[h=1]Israel considers banning entry to outspoken US congresswomen[/h]Israel official: Netanyahu weighing ban on Omar, Tlaib visit - ABC News
Israel's prime minister and other top officials were meeting on Thursday to reevaluate the decision to allow two Democratic congresswomen who support the Palestinian-led boycott movement to enter the country next week.

An Israeli official said they were meeting about an upcoming visit by Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan. The newly-elected Muslim members of Congress are outspoken critics of Israel's treatment of the Palestinians. Tlaib's family immigrated to the United States from the West Bank.

The official, speaking on condition of anonymity in line with regulations, said "there is a possibility that Israel will not allow the visit in its current proposed format."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's official. Based on Trump's recommendation, Israel has banned both Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib. Wave 'bye bye' to your Constitutional freedoms people, they just got thrown out the window and are no longer part of the Constitution. Freedom of speech will come at a heavy price from now on.

Good. Both Omar and Tlaib hate Israel and Ilhan Omar furthers antisemitic conspiracy theories. Nothing good was going to come of their visit.

No one needs to invite one's enemies into one's parlor to stir up trouble.

1. It's not "official". Do you even read your own link or maybe just the title? There's no decision yet.

2. The US Constitution isn't an Israeli document. In fact, they already have a law on the books supporting blocking their entry into the country.

The link was posted PRIOR to the final announcement. There was NO current link to post. Do you ever use critical thinking and logic before you post a remark?

They have freedom of speech. We have the first amendment, other countries do not. Those two can say whatever they want here in the USA. Israel is a sovereign country and can let whomever visit it wants or deny those they don't want to visit. Israel like very other nation has the right to allow those in they want in and to deny those entry they want to deny. This isn't a freedom of speech issue. Both congresswoman can continue to spout off and say whatever they want. That hasn't been hindered.

I agree. And it makes me glad I don't live in Israel.

And? What does an Israeli decision on what to do in their country have to do with our Constitution and our freedom of speech?

No, it is NOT good, not at all. Essentially Trump can control the choices made by other governments easily enough, Israel owns Trump too along with Russia and China. By influencing the decision made by Israel, Trump essentially silenced United States citizens who choose to use their First Amendment right by speaking out against the government. This is what dictators do, they silence opposition voices.

What exactly do "Constitutional freedoms" have to do with whom Israel decides to let in or not?

People around here were cheering the idea of the UK banning entry to Trump.

If you can't understand how Trump's influence essentially prohibited free speech, then there's no way to explain that to you.

If the Queen of England or the Prime Minister of Great Britain had spoken out against Trump's visit to England, it would be the same scenario. Their voice would have influence, particularly if Trump was banned from entering England.

Trump said that if Omar and Tlaib wanted to boycott Israel, “then Israel should boycott them". White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham denied Trump ever gave any kind of directive to the Israelis. “The Israeli government can do what they want. It’s fake news,”.

First, your statement is incomprehensible. Either Donald Trump controls Israel or Israel controls Donald Trump. Choose your conspiracy theory and stick to it.

Second, whatever Donald Trump did, that does not change the fact that Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib hate Israel and would want to see the country done away with if they could. No sovereign country should be forced to suffer entry of their nation's self-declared enemies into their midst.

Oh? So you're going to be arrested for speaking about against Trump here at DP? You are no longer allowed to speak out against the government?

Trump cannot become a dictator unless there's a massive coup that takes out Congress and the Supreme Court.

Our Fat Mouth in Chief was owed a favor by Netanyahu, and he gets it, now it's Trumps turn again to get political election support from Netanyahu, much more than the usual Israel interference in our government that past actions have proved.

I thought it was already decided. Israel Bars Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib From Entering Country Over BDS Support | HuffPost

Because you never make any sense, Pi. You are always at 1,000% paranoia and conspiracy theory level. You speak in absolutes (a lot like Trump does) and never weigh in the facts. You speak entirely out of emotion.

You're saying that Trump denied Omar and Tlaib their constitutional rights because another country denied them entry. The scenario you describe here is nothing like that.

What you're saying is just plain silly.

The UK doesn't rely on the USA's financial and military support. Seems like Israel should make a choice- keep trying to censor what American legislators say or keep cashing the cheques.

They don't rely on US military support?

Okey dokey.

But it doesn't matter to the point.

They aren't trying to "censor" anything. They're denying entry to two people who would be pleased to see their country destroyed, and who in fact are trying to weaken it through BDS.

Were they even planning on going to Israel? In the end, it's Israel's call. It's possible that Trump had gotten them to comply through his urging and tweeting. But that sort of retribution isn't outside of Trump's wheelhouse.

Sure, Trump opined on Omar and Tlaib's visit, but I don't think that alone was the deciding factor. Not allowing two foreign politicians who are pushing agendas to hurt Israeli businesses could be motivation enough.

The official announcement may not have come yet, however, several hours before Trump's tweet, the following was out already:

From your link...

"...the announcement comes shortly after US President Donald Trump said Israel would be showing "great weakness" by allowing them to enter the country."

Just more campaign posturing. Does it matter that the President is using foreign policy to pander to his support?
Congress still controls the purse strings, no? If the Democrats who control Congress decided not to tolerate this insult, could Trump over-rule them if a decision was taken to reduce aid to Israel? Not saying that would happen, of course. The Israeli lobby is 'way too powerful to be flouted like that.

Those two have been banned because of what they said. That's censorship. It is when a university bans a far-right speaker, anyway.

Man, you are way, WAY off base on this.

I can understand how you might be angry about the decision but the reason you give for being angry isn’t based in reality...at all.
