Oh, the ****ing irony....

Hamas’ Office of Refugee Affairs said that restrictions imposed on Palestinian refugees in Lebanon and Syria have meant their numbers have forced them to flee.

In its sixth annual report on Palestinian refugees who fled the war in Syria to Lebanon, the office said that lack of food, health care and shelter as well as the costs of correcting the refugees’ legal situation, the spread of unemployment and the reduced relief have played a key role in reducing the Palestinian refugees’ numbers in both countries.

The report noted that last year saw a significant decline in the number of Palestinian refugees by about 18,000 refugees according to estimates.

Palestinian refugees in Lebanon are experiencing rapidly deteriorating living conditions in Lebanon, the report continued, as a result of laws which prevent them from working and the decline in aid.

Hamas called on UNRWA, the Palestinian Authority, the Palestine Liberation Organisation and the Lebanese government to improve the general conditions of the Palestinian refugees coming from Syria to Lebanon at all levels including health, education and relief, and to provide them with legal and physical protection until they return to their camps.

It also called not to pressure the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon to return to their camps in Syria without ensuring their security.

Yes, the same Hamas ripping off Palestinian Aid and building materials.

Assuming from MEMO? Can you pop a link in to the articles you are posting going forward please.

From a humanitarian standpoint there is so much more that can be done for all genuine refugees and I've shared my thoughts in numerous threads relating to the Syrian crisis in the past. I've been attempting to bring attention to the horrific situation as it was unfolding regarding all refugees for over seven years now.

You know, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights pleaded for the Security Council to refer Assad to the ICC for his crimes against humanity approx 6 1/2 years ago now. The death toll was around 10,000 then and the refugee count was approx 200,000. Now, 7 years on whilst for the most part, leaders simply shrugged their shoulders and looked away while Syrians were being slaughtered and displaced, it is the worst refugee crisis for 20 years, with numbers not seen since the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. Millions have fled to other countries as refugees, more than 6 million are displaced in Syria and hundreds and hundred of thousands have been killed.

Hamas are just another part in the very large jigsaw puzzle of those who really don't give a crap. The little girl who died after her struggle with leukaemia is just another pawn to be used in all of the idiotic games the assholes play.

Apologies.

I am no fan of Assad's but let's be clear about the situation in Syria and the US , European , Arab push for a proxy war to oust Assad being probably the biggest factor in why the situation is as it is today. The UNSC veto is the real issue imo and is behind the inertia that beats down the attempts of HR activists and UNHR people globally.

Had they have not fanned the flames of discontent , funded armed and trained various anti Assad groups the likelihood would have been that Assad would have ruthlessly put down the challenge to his leadership BUT that the vast majority of people living in Syria would still be alive and living in functioning towns and cities albeit under an authoritarian regime.

Recall too that Assad's Syria was one of the sites that the US and UK amongst others sent their captives to be tortured by his regime goons. Any trial on HR violations against Assad but not against those that used his services to abuse the HR of their own captives is and would be an exercise in hypocrisy . Not that this is an issue , it's hiding in plain sight all the time but people either look away or ignore it,or even outright support it. But I think his day in court would have fingered many for the same crimes for which he would likely be indicted for and that's their fear imo
