The U.S. military has sent interceptors and other components of the Terminal High Altitude Air Defense ballistic missile defense system, or THAAD, to Israel for an exercise the first time. The deployment comes as both countries have been especially critical of Iran’s ballistic missile programs, but also reflects a contingency plan that has been in place for more than a decade.

Can't help but think this move is something of a prelude to an attack on Iran in the not too distant future

War pressures has been building for many years- Hezbollah has 100/150 K plus missiles available. That air war will need a decisive win. Iran is in Syria, Hezbollah with battle trained soldiers.
Like I said war between Hezbollah and Israel has been coming for years. Now as who else will be involved, well that has not yet been confirmed

Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus, an Israeli army spokesman, told reporters that a THAAD battery, flown in from the U.S. and Europe, arrived Monday at an air force base in southern Israel. He said that the defense battery has only been installed a few times elsewhere in the world.

Israel already has an advanced multilayered missile defense system, capable of intercepting everything from advanced guided long-range missiles outside the atmosphere to short-range unguided rockets fired from neighboring Gaza.

During this week’s drill, the THAAD battery, which shoots down long- and intermediate-range missiles, will bolster Israel’s existing systems. The deployment is temporary, and for now the THAAD system will not be permanently integrated into the Israeli defense shield, Conricus said.

Back on Dec. 12, 2017 the US and Israel reportedly signed a not-too-secret secret deal to fight Iran's growing influence in the Middle East. This is part of that deal. The deal included provisions for waging a cooperative war against Iran as part of the fight to clip Iran's wings.

Hezbollah already threw the IDF out of Lebanon in 2006, so Israel needs to use caution if they are not to be humiliatingly defeated again. Naturally Israel's supporters view that comprehensive defeat as a 'strategic withdrawal'! It was nothing of the sort; it was sheer incompetence on the part of the IDF.

There are no 'gods'. We, humans, invented them in an attempt to explain the unknown when we were unsophisticated primitives. Bad harvest? 'God' is angry; good harvest? 'God' must have observed our sacrifices and bestowed plenty upon us! That's about the long and short of 'gods'.

That depends. Israel has a history of selling our technology to China and who knows where it goes from there. It’s not good for us if our systems are made obsolete because countermeasures are designed after Israel decides to make a quick buck.

The sad part of this is that no one wants to address the real issues with the muslim world; one of the largest problems is that India and Pakistan have a cold war, and Saudi Arabia is funding terrorism.

Since we have failed to address either of those issues, issues with Israel and Palestine are amplified.

This system isn't necessary to defend against Hamas, it's a more broad system that can intercept missles of the intercontinental type. So who does the US think is going to attack Israel? Iran? Or is this more of Bolton's sabre rattling?

From someone who can't stand the futility of Hezbollah's aggression.

I think many people in Hezbollah would disagree with you about the God thing, considering how often they shout "Allah".

Iran and Russia are in Syria legally IE at the request of that government whereas those lining up to attack Iran are the ones behaving criminally. A point worth considering when the propaganda war starts in earnest to justify the, sure to come, attack.

I think it's safe to say that the missiles are the defensive preparations for the response their aggressive action will engender . A crucial qualification for those that see this a a purely defensive move.

The dangers of an attack on Iran are massive and ,imo , could quickly spread to a much broader war involving the US and Russia and other aligned states

Allowing Israel to carry on the way the have and avoid the overwhelming international consensus for a resolution on the 67 borders could prove to be a cataclysmic mistake

The planned attack and threats against a sovereign nation are crimes. Be sure Iran won't attack Israel first , it will be the other way around and you will have to jump through them double standard hoops again

I don't know about you but I am completely sick and tired of the US and Israel drumming up support and engaging in wars that are systematically wrecking entire countries in that region. Those that are or will be cheerleading for this are insane and should be rounded up and taken to a far off planet and left there.

Iraq is wrecked , Afghanistan wrecked even more than it was. Libya is a mess with humans being sold in the market place. Syria is rubble and Iran is being set up next. The people of the world need to unite against the bandits in Tel Aviv and Washington imo their own lives might well depend on doing so

That's why the Israeli leaderships are getting the US to help fight their battle with Iran. It's been something of a habit of late.

Iran already attacked Israel literally dozens of thousands of times. Hezbollah is Iranian proxy and Israel already has the right to react defensively against Iranian actions through that Islamist terror group. It also has the right to defend itself based on Iranian threats made against Israel. Israel is not the one to initiate hostilities with Iran, so your imagination is irrelevant.

You know what I mean. Your complete double standards on this subject should be legendary to any balanced observer and when the attack on Iran begins and you start to defend it be sure you will be exposed for applying different standards to different parties because of partisan biases.



Defending yourself doesn't give you the right to attack other countries that haven't attacked you.

You were occupying southern Lebanon and that's why Hezbollah engaged your forces. You think , once more , that only Israel has the right to self defence. You think sovereign territory should be sacrosanct but only when it is Jewish territory. Violations of other peoples territories by Israel is justified. That's the truth of your views and that's why you can't be taken seriously
