Fisk said:Correctly, if a little late in the day, Federica Mogherini, the EU’s head of foreign policy, told parliamentarians that the destruction of Khan al-Ahmar “would also be a blow against the viability of the State of Palestine and against the very possibility of a two-state solution.” She noted that it’s almost impossible for Palestinians to obtain building permits in the West Bank’s Area C, thus placing the Israeli claim that the shepherds’ shacks had been constructed illegally in its own grim context. Area C is under total Israeli occupation and – so the Jewish settlers say – must be annexed at once. “C” comprises 60 per cent of the West Bank. Why on earth would the Israelis encourage anyone to stay in the land of the ever-expanding Jewish colonies?

That the Israeli courts can deem illegal the construction of the homes of a people they illegally occupy , settle and systematically abuse/deny rights to , i think , is staggering in its arrogance and contempt. As pointed out by residentAbu Yussef Abu Dahuk
" The settlement continues to be built and so they must move us out. Now we are not allowed to cross the valley behind us with our goats or the settlers will take our goats. We are not allowed to build proper homes and so we have to use these metal structures. The settlers can build a villa, with electricity and a water source and a garden – and for us in the winter, we can build nothing. "
He has been the victim of multiple Israeli evictions already and is under threat once again. Alternative sites after compulsory eviction are next to the rubbish dump of a nearby Arab village or another site near a sewerage plant.
The sickening way that this is being portrayed to the world as an act initiated out of concern for their well being ( living too near the road ) whilst an illegal settlement will surely make use of this newly acquired land is just stomach churning.
In area C , under full Israeli control , Palestinians are rarely if ever allowed the permits needed to make their housing constructions legal whilst throughout the West Bank thousands upon thousands of illegal settler homes are being built in complete violation of international law.
Even the sickening and useless EU has grown enough of a small pair and voted that the demolition of Khan al-Ahmar would be a serious violation and probably a war crime.............. and the Israeli government will no doubt quake in their boots at these stern words.
