Looks like the evangelicals are gonna have to wait a bit longer for the arrival of the End Times.

Tillerson says US embassy unlikely to move to Jerusalem before 2020

Secretary of state notes that even three years is a 'pretty ambitious' estimate for the mission's relocation.

Relocating the US embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem will likely take at least three years, and quite possibly longer, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said Tuesday.

“It’s not going to be anything that happens right away,” Tillerson said in a speech at the State Department, reported upon by the New York Times. “Probably no earlier than three years out, and that’s pretty ambitious.
(. . .)
“This is not something that is going to happen this year or probably not next year but the president does want us to move in a very concrete, very steadfast way to ensure the embassy is located in Jerusalem when we’re able to do so, at the earliest possible time,” Tillerson said on Friday.

By which time Trump will almost certainly be gone and even a Pence could be convinced to call it all off and certainly Ryan will.

I am not getting excited except upon seeing that the Palestinians have not learned a damn thing over the years.

They seem to be the new Haitians, whole societies ruined to their cores by Victim Culture.

SAD

Yeah, it was just their own deliberate sense of victimhood that made the Palestinians claim that it was wrong for the Israelis to not allow the following items to be brought into the Gaza Strip:

sage
cardamom
coriander
ginger
jam
halva
vinegar
nutmeg
chocolate
fruit preserves
seeds and nuts
biscuits and sweets
potato chips
gas for soft drinks
dried fruit
fresh meats
plaster
tar
wood
cement
iron
glucose
industrial salt
plastic/glass/metal containers
industrial margarine
tarpaulin sheets
fabric (for clothing)
flavor and smell enhancers
fishing rods
fishing nets
buoys
ropes
nylon netting for greenhouses
hatcheries and spare parts for hatcheries
spare parts for tractors
dairies for cowsheds
irrigation pipe systems
planters (for saplings)
heaters
musical instruments
size A4 paper (letter/legal size)
writing implements
notebooks
toys
razors
sewing machines
horses
donkeys
goats
cattle
chicks

I say Trump might well turn the presidency into a figurehead position. It's the best way to handle him but it'll be quite a legacy, unless he gets run out of town before.

Even if it happens, 2020 seems implausibly early. I have taken part in new embassy planning and it is a VERY lengthy process. They might be able to start building in 2020.

Not only that, but unless a Republican wins in 2020, the embassy's going to stay in Tel Aviv...and the Republicans know it.
I wouldn't be so sure.

If construction on a new embassy gets underway within the next couple of years I think there will be no turning back. It would become a central issue in the 2020 Presidential campaign that I'm not so sure a Democrat would want to get pinned down on. The Democrats have historically done very well with the Jewish community. Advocating for flushing millions of dollars already spent and breaking a promise made to Israel would not play well with them at all.

So they cant be expected to behave, I know.

Look, I am done feeling sorry for these people till they act with more sense....there are much more worthy people in need of saving....those are the ones I want my energy to go to.

HELL, if we need another victim saving project then let's go save the people of South Africa again.....they are a much better bet.

The more that gets done the more the gift of giving it up is.....which we will be so very anxious to do to make amends to the World for Trump and everything else that has gone wrong..... you are wrong.

SORRY

Governing around Trump was always the right call...it was clear as day...... which of course means that the FAILED INTELLIGENTSIA did not do that, AND they show no signs of wising up.

Too many Evangelicals, especially those in the South, have made it clear that the so-called "End times" is the reason they "embrace" Israel while still blaming them "Jews "for killing Jesus. Those crosses they burn are meant to intimidate not only African-Americans and non-whites but those who are Jewish. That this POTUS supports this is in itself disgusting. And an insult to his daughter and her children.

"Making amends to the world"... who can't vote in U.S. elections.

Flawed logic.

Did you know that there was never any country called Palestine? Did you know that there is no such thing as a Palestinian people?

The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct "Palestinian people" to oppose Zionism.

Zuheir Mohsen (1936–1979) was a Palestinian leader of the Syria-controlled as-Sa'iqa faction of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) between 1971 and 1979.

Really? So prior to when Israel was invented on 14 May 1948, who was living there?

Palestinians are the newest of all the peoples on the face of the Earth, and began to exist in a single day by a kind of supernatural phenomenon that is unique in the whole history of mankind, as it is witnessed by Walid Shoebat, a former PLO terrorist that acknowledged the lie he was fighting for and the truth he was fighting against:

“Why is it that on June 4th 1967 I was a Jordanian and overnight I became a Palestinian?”

“We did not particularly mind Jordanian rule. The teaching of the destruction of Israel was a definite part of the curriculum, but we considered ourselves Jordanian until the Jews returned to Jerusalem. Then all of the sudden we were Palestinians - they removed the star from the Jordanian flag and all at once we had a Palestinian flag”.

“When I finally realized the lies and myths I was taught, it is my duty as a righteous person to speak out”.

This declaration by a true "Palestinian" should have some significance for a sincerely neutral observer. Indeed, there is no such a thing like a Palestinian people, or a Palestinian culture, or a Palestinian language, or a Palestinian history. There has never been any Palestinian state, neither any Palestinian archaeological find nor coinage. The present-day "Palestinians" are an Arab people, with Arab culture, Arabic language and Arab history. They have their own Arab states from where they came into the Land of Israel about one century ago to contrast the Jewish immigration. That is the historical truth. They were Jordanians (another recent British invention, as there has never been any people known as "Jordanians"), and after the Six-Day War in which Israel utterly defeated the coalition of nine Arab states and took legitimate possession of Judea and Samaria, the Arab dwellers in those regions underwent a kind of anthropological miracle and discovered that they were Palestinians - something they did not know the day before. Of course, these people having a new identity had to build themselves a history, namely, had to steal some others' history, and the only way that the victims of the theft would not complain is if those victims do no longer exist. Therefore, the Palestinian leaders claimed two contradictory lineages from ancient peoples that inhabited in the Land of Israel: the Canaanites and the Philistines. Let us consider both of them before going on with the Palestinian issue.

Palestinian Myths

Israelites for a fricking long time! Israelites were also the ethnic stock from which modern Jews and Samaritans originally trace their ancestry...Jews, and Israelites all refer to the same people! The word 'Jew' originates with the ancient Israelite kingdom of Judah.

Map of the region in the 9th century BCE

Kingdom of Israel (united monarchy) (1050–931 BCE), the kingdom established by the Israelites and uniting them under a single king. Kingdom of Israel (Samaria) (931–722 BCE), the kingdom of northern Israel.

The United Monarchy (Hebrew: המלוכה המאוחדת‎) is the name given to the Israelite kingdom of Israel and Judah, during the reigns of Saul, David and Solomon, as depicted in the Hebrew Bible. This is traditionally dated between 1050 and 930 BCE.

There was no state of israel prior to 1948. Which is your point with Palestinians so... What's your standard for state now? I'd like to pin that down before you decide to keep moving the goalposts.

The US Embassy in London took at least a decade to build, and there aren't too many hostiles nearby. (well not when it was started, anyway!)

You can't bring any chicks, to Gaza?

That's gotta' make for some lonely nights!

Failed intelligentsia?
There was no need to govern around Trump until there was, like, since a year ago. And given how little he's actually accomplished, considering his party runs damn near everything in the USA, I'd say somebody is successful at working around him.
Do you say it's a good thing? The government working around the President, vetting his Imperial Proclamations or whatever you call those things he signs in front of the cameras? Dragging their heels on Repeal, Replace, Relight, or whatever? Can The Wall be taken less seriously without actually putting the tunnels in before the foundation? Whoever has to replace Trump is going to have to fight first for respect, trying to restore the Presidency to relevance.

Or they could just change the sign on the door of the US Consulate in Jerusalem to say "Embassy".

Did you know that there's 136 nations around the world that disagree with you? All 136 of them have established bilateral relations with what they consider the nation of Palestine, which is populated by millions of people who consider themselves Palestinians.

And does your post in any way whatsoever excuse Israel from disallowing chocolate, toys, A4 paper, goats, sewing machines, cooking spices, and the rest of that list from those in the Gaza Strip? Exactly how did preventing the non-military-use items on that list protect Israel? Seems to me that you really don't care what Israel does, that no matter how what they do, no matter how nonsensical their actions, no matter how wrong they are...you'll stand by them without question.

Almost all Americans (including myself) support the right of Israel to exist...but that does NOT give Israel carte blanche to commit wrong just to hurt others. Perhaps it would do you good to learn that most Muslims aren't out to destroy Judaism (Jews are a protected class in Iran by order of Ayatollah Khomenei, btw), but they hate Zionism. There's a big difference between Judaism and Zionism, for Zionism is essentially one denomination of a religion. Here, educate yourself as to why many - including the Catholic church and some Jews - oppose Zionism. Hint: it's NOT because Zionists are Jews.
