I never got around to watching it, watched the first episode when it came out but that's it.
I understand a 2nd season is coming out this year.

It's one of the best shows I've ever seen. All of the characters are so well developed. Even the smallest characters feel like they are real people with real back stories and distinct personalities.

thats because some characters are based on real people, the actor who is playing the leading character who was one of the writers, was in a unit like this (and lost his girlfriend in a suicide bombing like one of the characters) but still its not walking dead or breaking bad

The show is great! There is tremendous amount of realism in it. The creators of the show were part of this elite unit in the army, so all the details are perfect.
And closer to the topic of the forum, the show captures very well the politics of the various groups on the Arab side (Hamas and splinter groups, Palestinian Authority - Fatah, Islamic Jihad, clan politics), and also the the politics on the Israeli side (politicians/commanders thinking more about their career, ego of the characters, blackmail). Can't recommend the show enough!

Yeah for sure. But even the bit characters too. Like the fatah guy at headquarters, Very marginal character but he exuded his character and backstory.

And I watch walking dead and watched breaking bad twice. it is up there with breaking bad for sure. Walking dead, although I watch it pretty religiously, is objectively a terrible, terrible show and can't compare to something like this.

The piece on the Palestinian side which I always heard about and can see it in action here is the undercurrent of determinism in everyday life and decision making. Very different from the typical western mindset and I've read about it lots but it is another thing to see it executed in such a true to life way on screen.

Re: Anyone watch Fauda?
CJ 2,0, et al,

I've watched several episodes of FAUDA. I think that, for anyone that has spent any time at all in the Middle East, recognizes the portrayal of Third Generation Hostile Arab Palestinian (HoAP) (and the emerging Fourth Generation) incidents, attitudes and activities. From the day the HoAP (A/AC.21/6 19 January 1948) formally announced it rejection of the UN Resolution of 29 November 1947 (A/RES/181 II), and their pledge to openly pursue their demands by use of force, the preferred method for conflict resolution has been the and remains Jihadism, Deadly Fedayeen Action, Hostile Insurgency Operations, Radicalized Islamic Behaviors, and Asymmetric Violence.*

(COMMENT)

The importance here, is that the century of follow-on generations after the Balfour Agreement, not even Izz ad din al-Qassam (Leader of the Palestinian Black Hand) who obtained the first FATWA from the Mufti of Damascus (Shaikh Muhammad Badr al-Din al-Hasani: AKA "The Great Muhaddith") that legitimized the use of force against the Jewish People.

The FAUDA story tells us about life nearly in the Palestinian border regions to Israel in the 21st Century; but not how the unrest evolved over the last 100 years (+). There is no question that a majority of Americans may not understand the scope and nature of the conflict; but they can tell the difference between those that pursue peace and those that are conflict-centrix.

Most Respectfully,
R
