German court calls synagogue torching an act to 'criticize Israel' [W:22]

Burning a synagogue is not a justified expression of criticism of Israel's policies and burning a mosque should not be considered a justified expression of criticism of Muslims either.

Both are heinous.

A man recently committed a nearly identical crime against a mosque in Dresden. Think he'll serve no jail time too?

How the heck would I know. What is this? Stupid question day?????????? I'm not part of the investigation, don't live in Dresden, unfamiliar with how their justice system works nor will have any say in the outcome. What I do know is that such a dog act should receive consequences.

I'd guess the answer to that would be "no, he will likely serve jail time."

Do you have a point?

Well clearly the court is wrong and the decision is appalling, an attack on a place of a Jewish identity even if it's done allegedly out of hatred towards Israel is still antisemitism.

What on earth would you burn down a place of worship for?

Calm down Serenity. You sound like you're having a hectic day.

If it is not every one, then it is very possible that hatred of Jews was not the motivation. In that case, the courts who actually have information about the people who committed the act would be the best ones to make such a judgement, not random people on the internets like you or I.

And you are saying that anyone who does not approve of any policy of the Government of Israel should be free to violently attack any Jews anywhere. I doubt if you would jump to the defence of people who tried to torch a mosque because they did not much like Saudi Arabia.

I find your comments distasteful.

The reason in this case is, imo, violent hatred of Jews inspired by a primitive world view and religion.

Animosity towards Isreal is not necessarily anti-semitism.

A syagogue in Wuppertal is not Israel.

As you are a self-declared fascist Redress you would, I suppose, have been in the street cheering had you been around when the Nazis burned down an earlier Wuppertal synagogue.

Redress has never displayed support for or cheered for the burning of a synagogue.

You on the other hand "liked" a post as recently as 8 days ago that included content which called for and advocated for the burning of mosques in France. Truly despicable.

Oh dear. I assure you I am not in favour of the burning of mosques in France - or anywhere else.

I said nothing of the sort, nothing even remotely like that. That is what is known as a straw man argument.

Nor have I suggested otherwise.

You suppose falsely. Maybe you should not make silly suppositions.

Maybe you should not proclaim yourself to be a fascist. Having been made a refugee and then bomber and rocketed by fascists I suffer from quite severe fascistophobia.

Sarcasm. You may have heard of it...

What is 'sarcastic' about writing 'liberal fascist for life' immediately under your name? If anyone declares themselves to be an extremist it is wise to take them at their word.

After being called a fascist about 100 times for being liberal, I changed my title to what it reads. I have since found it makes it easy to figure out who prefers to argue labels instead of issues.

Yes, but animosity towards Israel that spills over to trying to burn down Jewish institutions outside Israel?

What's that supposed to be, exactly?

I would have to agree. If it was a protest turned violent against the Israeli government, then a protest turned violent at the Israeli embassy would make sense. Against a Jewish synagogue? That is against Jewish people clear and simple, ergo antisemitism.

It's worse, because it demonstrates a complete internal dehumanization of Jews..

These clowns get drunk and want to get up to no good (like millions of guys all over the world do all the time).

So naturally they firebomb a Jewish institution.

Anyone see the problem with that?

Either this is about religion and antisemitism, than it belongs in the European section, or it is about the state of Israel, than it has nothing to do with antisemitism.

Only the Nazis said the Jews are a People - for the bad ways...

anyway, doing that **** belongs punished - whatever religion is harmed with such actions. And punishment took place.
A lot of posters here claim antisemitism is on the rise in Germany. That is not true, in no way - ask the jews living here. They feel more safe than in any other country. In fact if there is a religion wich is discriminated by some dumb persons, than it is Islam since the refugee crises.

Your entire post is one long, lasting WTF moment from my point of view. No idea what your point is in the first paragraph, the second one is completely ridiculous, and in the third you're A) speaking in the name of German Jews B) Downplaying antisemitism as a problem in Germany and C) Claiming that there is no discrimination against Jews in Germany unlike what happens with Muslims - all absurd claims.

lol. Right. A suspended sentence for firebombing a Jewish institution where the courts ruled that the attack was understandable because of stuff going on in Israel.

If you don't understand why this should make Jews feel unsafe and like second class citizens that are not deemed worthy of protection by the state, and if you don't see how that sort of leniency for the attackers based on this "justification" is radically antisemitic, there really isn't much we can do for you.

But it certainly does put your protestations that there is no problem with antisemitism in Germany into perspective...
