If the entire world outside the US decided that Washington D.C. is not recognized by them as the capital of the US, will it cease being the capital of the US? Obviously not.
Jerusalem is the capital of Israel.

Also should be noted that once the US finally does move its embassy to the capital of Israel, many will soon follow.

Either you are under the belief that Washington D.C. will cease being the capital or you aren't.

1) I agree and I didn't say that they have to anywhere as far as I'm aware, sovereign nations have the right to recognize whatever they wish to. 2) Same as #1, once the US does move its embassy it'll be followed by many other natons.

What it says it that the only 50% of the funds available for those uses be made available until the embassy has been relocated. IMO, this bill was never intended to be passed, it was intended to raise awareness of the fact that the last three admins. have taken a pass on this and it's something that the LAW has demanded be done. So we either change the law demanding that the embassy be relocated or we relocate the embassy.

I have mixed emotions about it too. There will be such intense resentment of relocating the embassy in Jerusalem that I think it might make our embassy personnel at higher risk. At the same time, I hate having our decisions made according to what terrorists demand. No easy answers on this one.

The two situations are not comparable.

East Jerusalem is OPT and Israel has no legal claim to it under international law..................... Washington is not under a foreign military occupation and claimed , in part , by another people who reside in the same area and who see it as the capital of any future Palestinian state.

The US is not Palestine/Israel and many people/nations tend to recognize this.

The Palestinians are still there and wanting their homeland too............people/nations recognize this too

Where did I mention the reason for the lack of international recognition in the hypothetical situation I described in which no one outside the US recognizes Washington DC as the capital of the US? I haven't mentioned any reason and haven't made such comparisons, the question was a rather simple one - whether or not that means Washington DC is no longer the capital of the US. It doesn't.

As shown above the only way to dictate which city is the capital of the country is in the law of that country, it does not depend on international recognition as shown by the example of Washington DC. Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and always will be.

It doesn't matter as international recognition doesn't dictate what is the capital of what country. That was the point in case you've managed to miss it twice now.

Maybe you could shed a thought for how many deaths on both sides , Arab and Jew , such an incendiary decision would make instead of focusing just on US " embassy personnel "
