Israel advances West Bank settlement bill - Business Insider

retroactively authorizing unauthorized settlements established on private lands owned by Palestinians. yea, that's going to promote peace

Israel's parliament gave preliminary approval on Wednesday to a disputed bill that would retroactively legalize Jewish ettlement outposts built on privately-owned Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank.
... Outposts usually start with pre-fabricated huts on remote hilltops and lived in by a handful of settlers. Over time, they acquire Israeli military protection and hook up to water and electricity networks, slowly becoming more formalized, despite being regarded as illegal.
... The legislation offers monetary compensation or alternative plots to Palestinians who own land on which settlers have built homes without a formal state go-ahead. There are some 100 unauthorized settlement-outposts in the West Bank ...
would legalize 2,000-3,000 outpost housing units, lived in by around 15,000 people.
Most countries view all Israeli settlements on occupied land as illegal.

we are negotiating about dividing a pizza and in the meantime israel is eating it

As I have been saying for a very long time now. So long as neither side wants peace, so long as both sides antagonize the other, and so long as there is excuse to harm the other all we can expect going forward is more of the same. Hatred, division, loss of life, conflict... the list goes on.

that's a weird spin on reality. "Palestinians" are from Jordan, and are illegally occupying Israel. they are welcome to go back to Jordan. Israel has every right to build on their land.

Weren't the Jewish people in Egypt building pyramids before Moses led them through the Red Sea on an invasion of Palestine?
A few thousand years from now we'll look back on this and laugh.

Israel has offered the Palestinians a fair peace offer over and over and over again for decades, only to have their peace offers answered with violence and aggression followed by outrageous denials that Israel ever made the offers.

The fact that Israel has decided that they aren't going to be double crossed anymore doesn't mean that they didn't give peace a fair chance.

History and archaeology show that the Israelites were the Iron Age civilization that arose in the West Bank area after the global collapse of Bronze Age civilization.
