To start off, Victor Davis Hanson deeply plowed the field we call WW2. I have personally been intensely critical of FDR laying our ships out to be attacked at Pearl Harbor. I stand by my criticism. Watching Hanson dissect all parties in the war definitely gave me a lot more grist for my mill. I suggest is you want a deeper view of WW2, spend the time to watch him debone the topic. He uses meat to lay clear a lot of misconceptions. Enjoy and discuss.

Why for examples did we suddenly become pals of Germany and even Japan? Why were we such friends of Italy? Why did we let Italy not suffer our hate as we hated Germany, a nation we sucked dry of scientists? Hanson brings up very important things. And it was enjoyable him dissecting the war.

Hanson has become in the past and today one of our finest historians,. And the more he is hated by Democrats, the finer he becomes.

For a historian he has sure held up better than most....most have been extremely disappointing in the quality of their work....A lot of them decided to get out of the historian profession to go into the Brain Molding profession and are too thin as humans to admit it.

As they have collected HUGE paydays.

Hanson is obviously familiar with many details of the war, and provides good analysis of strategic aspects of it, but this is ultimately just the standard internationalist-liberal theory of the war, in which the bad guys went to war because they were bad and they could (this is also the standard explanation for WWI and the American Civil War, though in the case of WWII it is at least plausible).
