How Many People Are Enslaved In The World Today?

Walk Free, the International Labor Organization and dozens of other state and nonstate actors came together in 2016 to form Alliance 8.7. In 2017, the coalition jointly estimated there were some 40 million people enslaved worldwide.

However, scholars from the outside don’t have access to the coalition’s raw data. This makes a critical analysis of the methodology a challenge.

Special interest groups never tell the truth. There would be no way to count the number of slaves in the world.

I'm sure they are all happier and better off being slaves than they would be if they were forced to face the trials and uncertainty of freedom

Beat me to it; but I expect it's actually because they made 'poor life choices', and lacked 'personal responsibility'-those favourite mantras of the rightie.

Exactly. What it comes down to is one is a slave because it is either one's natural or one's "chosen" position in life. Same way with being poor. It's just the way the world works. And attempting to help them only encourages them to get above themselves and develop bad attitudes.

You know what the real tragedy is? There are probably folk reading and actually nodding in agreement!

There are probably a fair number of Democrats who read about slavery in the world and get green with envy.

I wonder where most of these slaves are. I'd wager it's mostly in black and Muslim countries, the same countries the Left champions as symbols of tolerance, inclusion, and love.

I cannot save the entire world. America cannot save the entire world.
In case you didn't notice, we're having some pretty obnoxious problems here at home at the moment.
The rest of the world might have to step up and help solve this problem.
