Just wanted to alert you to a SHORT article entitled "The Battle for Venezuela" by Tony Wood.
It appears in the February 21, 2019, print edition of the London Review of Books, a British liberal magazine. (I assume the article is online. Sorry, I don't know how to link.)
1. Mr. Wood discusses the topic of American intervention in Latin-American affairs.
2. He feels that neither President Maduro nor the opposition is angelic.
3. He claims that the opposition's loathing of chavismo "comes with a strong dose of racism." He does not elaborate.
4. He feels that the opposition is on "shaky ground" when it bases its actions on provisions of the Venezuelan constitution.
5. According to Mr. Wood (who is finishing his Ph.D in Latin American history): "What's being promised [by the anti-Maduro forces] is a return to the neoliberal wisdom of the 1990s -- precisely the set of policies that produced misery in Venezuela, and which propelled Chavez to power in the first place."
Happy reading!
