October 6, 2018, the elections to the Saeima of Latvia will be held. These will be the 9th parliamentary elections since the restoration of independence of that Baltic republic. Although the Latvian democracy has been living in a dreamy and very stable condition for a very long time, and, at the first sight, there're no reasons to expect these elections to be shocking, some social groups close to the US government are highly concerned with their possible outcome. In particular, the National Endowment for Democracy (the NED), founded by the US Congress aiming to promote American interest in Europe, is seriously concerned with the growing popularity of the Harmony party, the New Unity party, and the Union of Greens and Farmers party. According to a source within the National Alliance party, the forgoing is stated in an e-mail sent to the General Secretary Raivis Dzintars by the NED's vice-president Nadia Diuk.

It's possible that it is the National Alliance who gets American grants for the development and promotion of democracy, because there's a reference in the correspondence about the increase in funding, which is an evidence of the previous cooperation. Although both the NED and the US authorities have never been rejecting their support to a few politicians and parties in different countries, in this case their choice has to worry the EU representatives. Indeed, the National Alliance is a transparently nationalistic movement, setting out, first of all, the denial of any integration processes and the pushing out from the country everything which is not Latvian, both people and business. This won't be good for the European unity.

Besides that, it's suggested by Nadia Diuk to use the time left before the elections for the unleashing of an aggressive PR-campaign and the preparation of the public opinion for non-recognition of the voting results and carrying out of protest activity if the results don't suit the National Alliance and their sponsors. It's obvious that a calm and miniscule country on the European sidelines in the near future may become an arena of the confrontation of different political groups. Moreover, if the information of the anonymous source within the National Alliance party is true, Latvia will be the place where the public opinion management techniques, which worked out in different countries and caused numerous social and economic perturbations, are going to be implemented. However, such details are not interesting for the big policy bosses.

This makes obvious the USA via NED meddling in the politics of a foreign Nation. Russia spent $150,000 meddling in the USA election and the NED meddles with millions, perhaps billions in Latvia, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Syria, Ukraine, Georgia, etc. Does this make USA claims of foreign meddling in USA elections a bogus issue and the "pot calling the kettle black?"
