I think it is utterly mindless, completely baseless drivel to believe that our allies have been screwing us over in trade but I would love to hear a reasonable, evidence based case to the contrary presented by someone.

Canada certainly has not.

How has Canada taken advantage of the US?

And do you honesty think the US never plays dirty when it comes to trade?

I guess you just want to impose rules on other countries that you think the US break on a whim eh? You never seem to want to apply these same rules to the US.

I think corporations on both sides of the border have gotten sweetheart deals and government protected trade privileges to the detriment of the common citizen in both countries.

It's funny how Trump and the GOP expect us all to swallow that the rich Americans getting richer will make us Americans all better off. Yet, if another country is perceived to be doing a little better in our mutually positive relationship than we are, then we should be outraged and that's justification to turn the screws so that both countries get hurt, just as long as the other country gets hurt more.

Well then let's stop trying to pin the blame for these problems solely on countries like Canada then. I can agree with changes that would benefit corporations less.

Sorry for my other response, I think it was too aggressive and I misread your intent.

No problem.

Nope. Even when the US was rivaled by the USSR we were still by far and away the economic powerhouse of the world. China, who is a distant second, is perhaps the only country that could be portrayed (dishonestly at that) as having an advantage over the US. And anyone who thinks Canada or Mexico ffs are a threat has been drinking too much of the Kool-Aid.

Lol it has been the other way around...the US has been screwing the rest of the planet since WW2. The US exploited WW2 to the fullest... Coca Cola for example followed the US military and used tax payer money to establish it self around the world. Boeing became dominate by "borrowing" tech from the Brits and Germans to then dominate the jet business... the list goes on and on.

The change that has come is that the US empire is in decline and the replacements are moving in to take over. So all that 8s happening is that the US is losing its political and economic dominance.
