Can't say I blame them. Breaking news (hasn't even hit the wire yet).

Can't say I didn't see that coming. It was never gonna work out.

Wow I guess Trump will just have to shove those coins he made straight up his ass :lamo

So many premature declarations of victory with no basis. It would be funny if it wasn't sad.

Everyone should check out Trump's letter to Kim. Even here he can't help but be petty, first blaming their "anger and open hostility" for the cancellation before making veiled threats comparing our nuclear capabilities to theirs.

Pure Trump, start to finish.

Well I think we know the pattern by now, over promise, pose and prance about a bit in front of the 'faithful', then declare it isn't going to happen, perhaps wanting the other side to knuckle under...

We saw this start with how 'easy' it would be do- just like repeal the ACA, get Mexico to pay for the WALL, ban Muslims....

Only thing that was 'easy' was tax breaks... :doh

Why wouldn't Trump state the reason for cancellation? And do think Kim wasn't angry and openly hostile?

I give Trump a lot of credit for trying. And he's still trying, hoping very much according to the letter that if will still someday work out.

Good move.

Trump isn't playing the game. If NK wants to play, Trump just calls it off.

In the meantime, sanctions continue.

Remember the Trump Doctrine.

This is exactly what Trump did today. He assigned responsibility for the cancellation onto NK.

Not sure, as I'm not certain what specific comments he's referring to. Maybe you can link me?

It's hard to imagine they were more angry and hostile than they were before this farce began, so upon what basis was this process started?

I'll consider whatever Kim said, but at this stage it appears Trump (finally) realized he had nothing new to offer the situation, and the summit would be a failure, and pulled up stakes to avoid embarrassing himself further.

It was the smart move under the circumstances, but since Trump created the circumstances overall it was pretty dumb.

I'd have been happy as anyone if he had succeeded, and he does deserve credit for the prisoners released, but beyond that it was just declarations of victory, and speculation on what a non-nuclear Korea would look like, when there was no sign at any stage that the basic facts on the ground had changed.

I believe those declarations tanked the talks as much as anything. It apparently never occurred to them what that looked like to North Korea.
