This is my initial foray to the forum, so I thought that I might begin with a simple question to get a feel for the "landscape" so to speak.

Given Trump's back and forth insult volley with Kim, does anyone here believe that Trump has a good personal relationship with the North Korean leader and does anyone believe that Trump has spoken to Kim personally?

Vetplus40:

"I don't know.", is the honest answer to both of your questions but scepticism based on President Trump's past record with the "truth" leaves me inclined to intuit, no on both counts. However, I am reminded of the amicable relationship between Churchill and Mussolini during the early part of WWII, so I could be wrong about President Trump and Kim Jong-Un. I am not sure if Kim Jong-Un speaks any English but I am almost certain that President Trump does not speak any Korean, so even if direct communication had been established it would be through translators and thus the notion of talking 'personally' is perhaps impossible.

Cheers.

As far as I know, I don't think the US has a direct line of communication with the North Koreans, besides sideline talks at meetings of the United Nations in New York. We used to have informal lines of communications through the Norwegians (hope I'm recalling that Scandinavian nation correctly!) but I think that fell apart as things have become more belligerent.

Whys should our President reason with kimba ?
President Trump called his bluff which proves he's not a person to mess with...nor our country.
