I saw video clips of Trump meeting His Holiness the Pope. The clip shows a dramatic change to dourness on the Pope's face. His Holiness is not smiling in the official photo with Trump. Any explanation? This is a marked contrast with the Pope's official photos with other world leaders.

The Pope is an unabashed socialist. Why would he be happy about being in close proximity to an unabashed capitalist? :shrug:

Pope Francis is an extremely liberal pope. And has come out against many things Trump stands for. Trump himself has insulted the pope for saying his wall isn't christian.

Pope Francis is my favorite Pope.
 
Maybe Donald had just said the same thing to Il Papa that he previously said to Melania (caption being pure speculation, of course :mrgreen:)

With all the pope bashing by the Trumpies, my question is why do those particular Christians even bother pretending to be about Christ anymore. Why not just go all in on the prosperity gospel and drop the charade?
 
I've no time for religious leaders, but this one can't be all bad. He gave Trump a signed copy of his Encyclical on climate change, AND asked Melania what she fed Trump on! Masterclass ninja trolling.

If those particular Christians aren't Catholic then the Pope doesn't hold any special place for them. My guess is Trump supporters who are Catholic are more diplomatic in their criticism of the Pope.

Is it a case of my version of Christianity is better than yours? It's baffling. Don't they worship the same dude?

Different denominations interpreting things differently. Protestants don't believe in intermediaries between their god and themselves so things like saints and popes have no place in their belief system.

Also, the Catholic Bible includes 7 books that the Protestant Bible doesn't.

That is a redeeming feature. I didn't know Francis had such a good sense of humor.

I noticed that and was disappointed by the Pope's displayed lack of charity.

Of course, I'm rather disappointed in this Pope all together, but that's a different thread topic.
