Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto said on Tuesday he was willing to meet with Donald Trump, months after comparing the Republican presidential candidate to Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini.

"Yes, I would meet with him," Pena Nieto said, referring to Trump in a pre-taped television interview broadcast on Tuesday night.

"I have never met him. I can't agree with some of the things he has said, but I will be absolutely respectful and will seek to work with whomever becomes the next president of the United States."

That's a step in the right direction.

He can't even speak in front of them unless there are several hundred drumptsters waiting to pounce of them.. He is so terrified of them he delivered a "major" (snicker) speech on race relations to a (you guessed it) crowd of white people.

I'm thinking President Nieto is seeing the writing on the wall, so to speak, that the American left ignores. I'm also thinking he will get his clock cleaned by a President Trump.

Stare down Trump? If Trump is elected President, Mexico's President will meet with him because he'll still want our money. Nothing more than that. He'll show up with a smile on his face, a hand out to shake Trump's hand, and an empty money bag in the other hand.

I always thought that was a bad line of his. But, to answer your question: The cost of the wall can be deducted from the money the US gives to Mexico in aid over a period of time so that it doesn't impact Mexico too badly. Pretty simple, actually.

Excellent idea! Very sharp. I wondered why I didn't think of that! But wait! we only give them about $50M a year and a fully functional wall will cost about $30B and then there are maintenance costs. It would take over a century to claw back the cost and by that time we will have to build another wall at triple the cost. Meanwhile the Canadians will be laughing at us.

Oh Noes!!!!! What looked like a good idea is completely silly!!!!!
 
Of course he'd meet with Trump if he became president. It's petty and undiplomatic not to imo. Likely the meetings would be pointless "discussion," and continued disagreement but still gotta go through the motions.
 
Trump should tell him to start saving his pesos.

Actually, reading a HuffPo article that obfuscates and states $50M a repeat of the Hillary for President talking points is silly. Also, anyone that thinks that USAID funding from the US Department of State is the only money we give to Mexico annually is silly.

Do your own research.

$50M dollars?

Use search terms like "war on drugs US funding to Mexico" and "US foreign military funding to Mexico" or even just simply "US foreign assistance to Mexico" which that last one will get you ~$135M without military (another ~$200M), or drug interdiction ($100M to $350M annually depending on which year you reference), or many other funding streams.

Maybe a little less unwarranted condescension and less of the unearned air of superiority with a little more research and effort sprinkled in would make your posts better and less silly as well. Your choice.

Trump has yet to prove he could clean a fourth grader's clock, much less the leader of a different country.

Sorry but. drug interdiction spending isn't aid. I have schooled you AGAIN! But you do have a point. In a hundred years Mexico will pay for that damn wall!
