Yep, that's how employers get away with both skirting citizenship laws and tax laws. Right wing nuts beat their chests about "the invasion of illegal immigrants" while what they should be doing is cracking down on employers that hire them.

That’s an excellent question, and I’m afraid I don’t have the answer. I’d like to know myself. Does anybody else?
Dear God, Please give trump a well deserved retirement, preferably starting no later than January 20, 2021.

illegals will work for a company that contracts them to businesses. Thats how a company I worked for got around the background check. US citizens would be direct hires to company and have to do background and drug test. However, the illegals who worked on contract were not subject to background and drug tests because they were employees of the company contracting them out.

Because the majority of jobs illegals get are usually unskilled, or manual labor. If they want something better, they get fake SS#, or some other form of acceptable ID. And no, most companies don't really do a background check on your citizenship, but your criminal background (like most retailers and especially grocery stores) concerning only the US. As long as there is a SS# that can be used to send money to from the payroll then the employer is fine. For manual labor, they just deal in cash. Much easier.

Further, when certain, large enough companies who give politicians a chunk of money complain about their workers getting deported and that they now have pay a living wage to an American citizen to said politicians...then those on the right start looking to create loopholes for their donors.
