A Marine combat veteran who was wrongly held for potential deportation for three days after a Michigan police captain reported him to federal immigration officials will be paid $190,000 by the city over the incident.

The Grand Rapids City Commission on Tuesday approved the settlement with Jilmar Ramos-Gomez, 28, who was held late last year at a detention center after he was suspected of being an undocumented immigrant, despite the fact that he was carrying his U.S. passport at the time and that he was born in Michigan.

Who the heck looked at his passport and decided he was undocumented?
Hell of a way to treat any citizen, never mind a war vet. Tough times to be American and have an off-white complexion but the city bought him a house, so there's that.

In general, “land of the free and home of the brave” doesn’t seem to ring so true.

Form civil forfeiture, to constitutionally illegals wiretapping and spying, to the following video:

And why is it allowed?

My best guess, Many in the white majority believes it won’t be used against them, it’s for other people.

If someone says to you, "What are you worried about if you have nothing to hide?" you're talking to a conservative. They brag about being for limited government but they always support government jurisdiction in the lives of the citizens.
And you're right about white people feeling immune to the worst of the overreach. That stuff is just there for protecting white people from those others.
I worry about what's happening down there.

I imagine all the people outraged over "hearsay" lately will be the first to rally to this guy's defense. Suuuuuure. :lamo

Why would this administration care anything about how it's policies affect people? They still have support from the base and may still win another.

I would say the Trump's probably laugh at vets and people who served.

Want some proof? Let's see how silent Donald Trump stays on this incident.

Right is right and wrong is wrong. They got it wrong and must be held accountable, just like Hillary should be held accountable for accusing a veteran of being an asset.
Mistakes happen, they must be rectified. Slandering another on purpose is much worse.
