Yale Study: Twice as Many Undocumented Immigrants as Previously Thought in U.S.

I could have told them this. I lived for ten years in a coastal community near the border in San Diego. "No hablo inglés" is common place.
A new Yale study has concluded that the population of undocumented immigrants in the U.S. is close to double the generally accepted estimate.
The population of undocumented immigrants is widely thought to be around 11.3 million. But the study, which was conducted by three Yale-affiliated researchers, indicates that the total may be more than 22 million. Even the authors were surprised by their findings.

“Our original idea was just to do a sanity check on the existing number,” said one of the study’s authors, Edward Kaplan, a professor of operations research at the Yale School of Management. “Instead of a number which was smaller, we got a number that was 50 percent higher. That caused us to scratch our heads.”
“There’s a number that everybody quotes, but when you actually dig down and say, ‘What is it based on?’ You find it’s based on one very specific survey and possibly an approach that has some difficulties. So we went in and just took a very different approach,” said another of the study’s authors, Jonathan Feinstein, a professor of Economics and Management.

Get ready for a barrage of, "You only care about this because you're racist" comments.

No, I am sure you are wrong, nobody from the DP forum would dare to sink that low, and play the race card! ;)

Double the number of ICE field agents (and the courts to handle them) and get busy deporting illegal immigrants.

And triple your taxes to round up 22 million people.....right? Right now our prison population is about 2 million and that took every cop we have. Nazi Germany could not round up this many people

Says the guy who thinks that rounding up 300M guns is possible.

When did I ever say that? That is complete and utter nonsense? Can I make up stuff about you?

You're the guy who has all the sensible controls for ridding society of what we don't need, so you tell us

Yes....I guess only my side has to come up with the answers. Well the answer is obvious.

We need to make the wall 30 feet higher. That will show them. LOL

I already know the answers. We need to reinforce our borders by hiring more border patrol.
Stop the magnet, end chain migration, and implement a federal e-verify and make it near impossible for people to overstay their temporary Visas.

Also we need to keep guns out of the hands of those who ignore our immigration laws.

What do you have to offer?

Yeah, that's what I thought.

I'm with you on the federal everify. The gop AND the democrats will NEVER go for it. It won't even ever make it to a vote on the floor. It never has. Guess why?

Anyone who thinks that 22 is 50% more than 11 has no business reporting numbers.

Are you calling the university that Brett Kavanaugh went to stupid???? Conservative hypocrisy is inching closer to paradoxical territory.

Nope, I am simply pointing out that when one publishes a study then it makes sense not to include obvious manufactured inaccuracies.

Build the wall.
Institute a visa exit system.
Increase the number of immigration judges.
Mandatory nationwide E-Verify.

We hear all the time from these people about the rule of law. Well then, let's get busy enforcing the law.
