Border Wall Prototypes Breached, Collapse During Tests

  • More than a dozen points were “breached” during tests of President Donald Trump’s border wall along the Mexican border, according to a report by Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
[*]Newsweek also reported that there's at least one case of test crews being able “to make the prototype wall completely ‘unstable’ to the point of collapse.”
Still think the wall is a great idea?

A poorly written story that did not say which of the 8 wall prototypes failed, which did not or what was required to make them fail. Other than that - well done.

This will always be the case. Alcatraz was supposedly unbeatable. But today they have an ironman triathlon that starts there complete with child, senior, and handicapped divisions.

This is why you don't give links to the multimedia echo chamber.

That Countable article gave sparse, selected info from a Newsweek article...and failed to give the link to their source.

The Newsweek article https://www.newsweek.com/border-wal...ort-trump-cost-customs-failure-mexico-1128900 gave more information, though it wasn't complete, either.

Newsweek, as well as numerous other echo chamber sites, cited a "U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) report", but not one of them gave a link to the report.

I judge this whole thread topic to be spun news.

I couldn't click on the article's link to the Newsweek article because it was not properly embedded. I do not know under what circumstances they collapsed. Were they bombed? Were they subject to a stress test against a bulldozer? Did they just crumble in the noon day sun because they were made from dried oatmeal?

Here's the Newsweek article.

Several breaching scenarios were tested by experts from CBP, U.S. Special Operations Command and members of the Marine Corps. The tactical teams tested whether they could breach, scale or otherwise penetrate the walls in a real-life scenario along the nearly 2,000-mile southern border. The report does not mention an effective remedy to stop tunneling as a way of bypassing the proposed border wall.

It's still short on details. I doubt the Marines want to give the coyotes any ideas, but then, the coyotes are already pretty good at getting around barriers.

You do not need an article to figure out that a wall by itself cannot stop anyone determined to cross it. What is more important and would be more effective is the proper amount of personal to be stationed along the border along with high tech gadgetry. If that much was done then a wall is pointless. And we are not going to even get close to proper border security as long as trump is distracting it with calls for a stupid ineffective wall.
