A Huge Caravan Of Central Americans Is Headed For The US, And No One In Mexico Dares To Stop Them

[...]

For five days now hundreds of Central Americans — children, women, and men, most of them from Honduras — have boldly crossed immigration checkpoints, military bases, and police in a desperate, sometimes chaotic march toward the United States. Despite their being in Mexico without authorization, no one has made any effort to stop them.

Organized by a group of volunteers called Pueblos Sin Fronteras, or People Without Borders, the caravan is intended to help migrants safely reach the United States, bypassing not only authorities who would seek to deport them, but gangs and cartels who are known to assault vulnerable migrants.

'If we all protect each other we'll get through this together':
Army of more than 1,000 Central Americans fleeing violence and unrest march unchallenged through Mexico towards the US border

  • 1,200 migrants from Central America headed on foot to the US on Sunday
  • 80 per cent of the migrants hail from Honduras, where there has been political unrest and gang activity
  • The trek is organized by Pueblos Sin Fronteras, meaning People Without Borders
  • Migrants sleep on the floor of town plazas, eat charity meals by local churches, and ride on the top of dangerous freight trains during the month-long trip
  • The group is currently trekking through Mexico

An army of a thousand migrants from Central America are marching through Mexico to the US where they hope to get in by any means - legal or not.

The massive flood of migrants hail mostly from Honduras, where the country has become rife with gang violence and political unrest.

The journey began on Sunday March 25 when 1,200 men, women and children gathered together to cross immigration checkpoints with a organization called Pueblos Sin Fronteras, meaning People Without Borders, according to BuzzFeed News.

And the number is only growing as migrants walk to the border in 90-degree heat, sleep on the floor of town plazas, and get by on charity meals by locals and churches.

So far no one in Mexico has tried to stop them.

This is an outright invasion and should be met with military force.

I think it will be ... if and when they reach our border.

Honduras? That's where the USA/CIA helped the military depose Zelaya, the elected leader of that Nation, and installed a flunky regime. Kharma? Poetic justice? Backflash?

Well, grab your trowel and join the freedom-loving bricklayers donating their time to building the Patriot's Wall.

Honduras, Nicaragua, Guatemala, El Salvador...
Their fathers and grandfathers served Reagan's CIA installed right wing death squads.
Then when they were no longer needed, they went to work for the coke cartels.
The gang violence that stemmed from that is a direct result of CIA policy in the region during the Reagan era.

The info on the size of that group is rather murky: somewhere between 1,200 and 6,000 people, depending on whose article you read.
But one thing is clear from all articles - it is a well-organized bunch.

"... The group is planning to organize workshops between April 5 and 9 in the city of Puebla, Mexico, to help address legal issues or queries of the migrants as they embark on the journey.

... From Mexico and the United States, the migrants are demanding open borders and asylum access, an end to deportations which destroy families, not terminate vital migrant programs such as the Temporary Protected Status, TPS, which has given access to people fleeing violence in Central American countries to the United States. ..."

I like the term "migrants" in that article ...

Oh noes. Brown people!

Your deflection via the race card has been noted and dismissed for being as wrong as it is wrong headed.

They haven't even made here, nor have they entered or made demands.

So I'm not sure what the panic is about.

First appearance these appear to be refugees, but of course cult trump will think they are all terrorists, every man, woman and child...

Reports are they are planning to march to Nashville. They're headed straight for your house too. They'll be there by the end of May.

RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY! :afraid:

These people are not like the Trump White House. These people are organized.

This caught my eye:

“Mexico is doing very little, if not NOTHING, at stopping people from flowing into Mexico through their Southern Border, and then into the U.S. They laugh at our dumb immigration laws. They must stop the big drug and people flows, or I will stop their cash cow, NAFTA. NEED WALL!” Trump said in his second tweet.

Mexico is doing something — with the help of the United States. Hundreds of millions of dollars in aid flow to Mexico every year, including funds for strengthening its border with Guatemala, where migrants generally cross.

So basically Mexico, according to the "fake news" Washington Post, is building a wall to keep out foreigners--and the U.S. is paying for it! :lamo

Wait if it's fake news what's your point???

Wait if it's fake news what's your point???

Whether the story is true or not, I see irony in a liberal mouthpiece arguing that a country is doing something about stopping illegal immigration by building a "wall" to keep out foreigners while getting another country to pay for. it. It's also hilarious.

"Calf muscles the size of cantaloupes from a lifetime of smuggling drugs>"
Isn't that the radioactive phrase he used when he wasn't referring to them all as thieves and rapists?

Oh look, race card!

What's your suggestion for dealing with them if they reach our border?

Fear! Feeeeeeeeaarrr!

The migrants are coming! The migrants are coming! 1,201 if by land, 1,202 if by overstayed visas!

Buy more guns! Build a wall - 'cause they'd never think of building tunnels (or using the tunnels already dug)! Stop the NFL players from kneeling!

But what we must do - what we must do - is follow the immortal advice of Colonel Bat Guano, for he knew - he knew! - that those brown people are coming here to SAP OUR PRECIOUS BODILY FLUIDS! Heil Bat Guano! Heil Bat Guano!

Not bad at the race baiting hyperbole there Glen.

How do YOU suggest that we deal with them when they reach our border? Just let them cross and remain undocumented and unvetted? Pretty sure that local ICE, even with local LEO support are not going to be able to handle that many people at once.

So I'm not sure what the panic is about.

Skin color, most likely.

Why? What have they done?

They haven't made demands? Hmmm...

From Mexico and the United States, the migrants are demanding open borders and asylum access, an end to deportations which destroy families, not terminate vital migrant programs such as the Temporary Protected Status, TPS, which has given access to people fleeing violence in Central American countries to the United States.
