A Huge Caravan Of Central Americans Is Headed For The US, And No One In Mexico Dares To Stop Them

Do you imagine there is no more than one? In this case it appears to make us a stranger in our own land. Wont be long until the phone says "for English, press 2"

You're calling them invaders, so I want to hear, what do invaders do? 'Cause last I recall, invaders come to violently take over the targeted nation, and I see precisely zero indication that they're "invaders". They're a lot more like the refugees from any nation torn apart by war, corruption, or drugs.

But I get it - you've just gotta feed your fear response. Common sense need not apply.

I have yet to hear them claim they are entering the States, have you? What makes you claim they need "stopping"?

I haven't seen them indicate this is anything more than a demonstration against Trump's policies. But it's surely nothing that should cause Trump to determine policy from it, like what he did today in calling DACA off. If that was the case with 1200 non-Americans in Mexico, then 1,000,000 American women demonstration in Washington should have caused policy changes bigger than the Constitution itself!

Pretty sure they are not marching for weeks thru the desert, just to hold signs at the border and turn around and march home. BTW, Trump was willing to give ground on DACA, guess who screwed the pooch?

You cant see the forest for the trees (and your hyperbole). This is not about 1,200 (whose occupations you pretend to know, BTW) It is about a big middle finger to US immigration policy and establishing a precedent.

First off, you'd be doing yourself a great favor by turning off your "fear" button. You've been pressing it way too much. Second, you're not even thinking about this critically e.g. they're a group that our "fake news" press (whom y'all refuse to believe unless it's something you want to believe) has reported, and now every right-wing media organization is likely sending reporters there, too...which means that we know where they are, what they are, and what direction they're headed in. Our CBP is trained to respond to riots and mass protests.

In other words, relax. Take some Xanax if you have to. Or move to Colorado and smoke some weed and chill out. You're freaking out over something that our border patrol has trained for. And even if the CBP couldn't handle it, we do have a few military units somewhere that would be able to respond (though the local and state police would respond first and take care of it before the National Guard could even be called out).

Okay? Relax. Chill. And stay off any website that tells you "INVASION!!!!!!"...because all they're doing is putting clickbait out there for you to click on.

So much for your pledge to Trinnity about dialing down snark and not implying people are stupid. Just because you imagine invaders should behave like Viking hoards, does not make them non invaders. They plan to enter in violation of the laws of our country, you cool with that? I say, have a strong border patrol force, turn them back into Mexico, let them deal with it.

Um, no. The Dems offered billions to build the wall in exchange for protections for DACA...and Trump refused it. His counter-offer was protections for DACA for the wall AND for greatly-increased restrictions on immigration. Trump didn't give ground - the Dems did...and then Trump tried to take even more ground that the Dems weren't willing to give.

If you were really concerned about violations of our nation's laws, then you'd be outraged at the plethora of laws that the Trump administration's committed thus far. But it's clear that you really don't care what laws Trump and company commit...but you sure do want to enforce the laws against those who don't look like you....

Did they march clear across an entire country?
Who knows?

But your attempts at hypothesizing aren't winning any factual arguments.

Trump & Fox are ginning-up the base here, is what I see. It's how they keep them motivated. That's what I see.

He wanted full funding for the wall, the "billions" included the wall AND increased immigration control. The democrat party crapped on the DACA "kids" see my thread on it.

I attempted no such thing. Your attempt to imply they are marching from Honduras, just to protest at the border are not rational. You reckon they will just protest a few hours and march what? Nearly a thousand miles back home? Come on Chomsky, I know you don't believe that for one second. You are a thinking man, I have seen that from you, very often.

Well, this thinking man is not going to automatically assume they're going to crash the gates.

There are protests of thousands, that take place at the border. It's nothing the border patrol can't regularly handle, even if they did try something more than peaceful protest.

But while I can't say what exactly the protesters will do, I am confidant in saying Trump (and by extension Fox) are taking this to panic their followers for their own purposes. That I'm 100% sure of. And Trump basing DACA policy over this march, yeah right.

There it is, the cheap ass race card, I may or may not, reply to you at my leisure from here on out.

When you PROVE that Trump broke some laws, update us. Meanwhile, every border jumper rounded up is a PROVEN violation of US law. YOU are the one that only cares about SOME laws.

Apparently you're not familiar with what "full funding" would require. I know this may come as a shock to you, but a construction project like that doesn't take place all in one year...especially when the president himself is still trying to decide what kind of wall he wants built. If the entire wall cost $50 billion (less than the high-end but higher than the low-end estimates), there is no way that Congress is going to pony up the whole $50B in one year. Why? Because all of a sudden they'd have $50B sitting there waiting to be spent...and since it would be borrowed money (thanks to Trump blowing up the deficit), all it would do is rack up more interest while DHS puts out contracts, collects bids, examines bids, and awards the contracts. Even then, the whole amount couldn't be spent because the government is not about to pay the whole cost of the wall up front.

THAT, sir, is in a very brief nutshell how government contracts for major projects work, and that's why it would have been epically stupid (and possibly in violation of ethics laws) to fund the entire freaking wall in the first year of what would be a multi-year project. But Mr. I'm-such-a-stable-genius Trump - being clueless about how government contracts work - couldn't understand all that. And neither did you.

The very fact that you don't think that Trump's broken any laws just shows how little you know (or care) about what he has done, since you won't even go to the effort of Googling "what laws has Trump broken" to check to see if maybe, just maybe right-wing media ain't telling you everything. But it's getting late and you're not going to listen anyway. Good night.

First off, in order to crash gates, one must have gates, they will likely attempt crossing at anyone of miles of border protected by nothing more than a 4 or 5 strand barbwire cattle fence (if even that) Secondly, was not DACA policy already decided over the last (pardon the appropriate pun) "Mexican standoff"?

They probably wont get thru as this likely a well funded and mobilized charade to protest US policy. It is so public that border patrol would be remiss not to know their exact co ordinates as we type, to the yard.

I wonder who will fund the buses back to Honduras?

You love calling people stupid in your typical smarmy ass liberal way, don't you? Well, let me tell you how smarmy liberals operate, if you don't get it up front, the liars will screw you over and go back on their word, not that I need to explain that to you.

Yeah, "crash the gates" was a concert metaphor.

No, they won't get far, and the border patrol will be right there. Maybe they'll camp out, maybe they'll cry for asylum, maybe they'll get symbolically arrested. But they're not going to be sneaking into Phoenix or Albuquerque, or making a mad dash for Chicago.

If they do (which I doubt) high up brass at Border patrol and ICE need to be looking for another line of employment. While I would like to think there is no way it could happen, my Government never ceases to continually, underwhelm me.

Upon what do you base them "forcing their way into our country"?

Have they claimed this? Or threatened this? To act illegally, or violently?

It looks to me like perhaps some kind of demonstration.

Oh don't patronize me. They're demanding policy change. We all know that.

But what have they said, done, or demanded, that leads you & others in this thread to believe they are physically crashing the border?

You say you're a thinking man. How about one that actually reads? From the OP's links:

A Buzzfeed reporter on site says organizers estimate that about two-thirds of the people in the caravan plan to cross in the US undetected or by asking for asylum protection.

Others will attempt to enter illegally.

Organized by a group of volunteers called Pueblos Sin Fronteras, or People Without Borders, the caravan is intended to help migrants safely reach the United States, bypassing not only authorities who would seek to deport them, but gangs and cartels who are known to assault vulnerable migrants.

Organizers like Rodrigo Abeja hope that the sheer size of the crowd will give immigration authorities and criminals pause before trying to stop them.

They're counting on the shear number of people that are with them to stop from being deported/stopped from entering the US. That is a tactic threat. And an admission that they are going to attempt to force their way into the US. And if they can't do that, they'll do so by trying to enter undetected by splitting off from the group.

Honduras? That's where the USA/CIA helped the military depose Zelaya, the elected leader of that Nation, and installed a flunky regime. Kharma? Poetic justice? Backflash?

So we mess up their country and then shoot them when they try to leave. What loving and neighborly Christians we are!

1: I'm not Christian.

2: I'm not advocating anyone get shot. Unless they become violent. Then I won't object to it. Stay peaceful and they should simply be turned away. Hell, I'd even support paying to send them back via plane/boat/car/train or all of the above.
