Ok, I get deporting drug dealers and illegals. And, even if I don't agree with all of it, I can even understand why you'd want to deport illegal alien parents of American citizens or those brought here illegally as kids by parents. As barbaric as that is, at least it makes some sort of sense. Sort of.

But this?

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/i...0-years/ar-AAv0xFp?li=BBmkt5R&ocid=spartanntp

This makes no freaking sense. We're deporting a legal immigrant doctor because he screwed up over 25 years ago? And, making it worse, his screw up was a not even a felony, just a misdemeanor or two. Seriously?

Has this country gone crazy?

There was another doctor

Flint doctor deported; Friends and family fight to have Dr. Jose Jota return to Grand Blanc Township | MLive.com

yet not one thread on it. your crocodile tears are salty.

I never heard of that doctor. But, the doctor in the OP popped up on my MS Edge newsfeed this morning. So, him I heard of.

I'll read that link you provided now to see what gives.

So you are saying your outrage is limited to what the MSM feeds you? Thank you for admitting that.

So you're blaming calamity for not starting a thread on this topic in 2008, during the Bush administration, before calamity joined DP? That's your red herring? Can't you at least make a decent effort? And what's wrong with commenting on the story instead of ever thread turning into BUTWHATABOUT_________??!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In this case BUTWHATABOUTGEORGEWBUSH!!!?????

And the cases really aren't similar at all. The guy in the case you cited screwed up, or his attorney did, and the man skipped a required hearing and was ordered deported in 1997. So it's a FAIL all around on your part.

it's more general, you and your ilk, didn't care about these deportations until you thought you could blame it on trump. The point is to show these anti-trump hit threads really have to do with obama policies. The left wing tactic of dismissing everything showing your hypocrisy as "whataboutisms" is weak sauce that you all will soon forget the next time a democrat wins the white house, then that's all you'll be about.

That's a baseless and false assertion. If you want to make claims about what I believe, you should have the integrity to back them up with comments I made that support your assertion, and you cannot. You're just engaged in the intellectually lazy and hackish exercise of stereotyping people based on nothing and pretending you're making a legitimate point.

And your example of a case in 2008 in the BUSH administration is a big fat fail to prove that stupid point anyway. Your entire point on this thread is "you liberals didn't start a thread on this case you didn't know about, before you were a member of DP, therefore you're a big hypocrite" is just nonsense. It doesn't even pass the laugh test.

A case from the Bush administration proves it's Obama's policies that are at fault? And Obama tried for years to get an immigration bill passed, broadly supported by Democrats and Obama supporters, and was blocked by the GOP, which proves that Obama and Democrats never cared about immigration because the GOP blocked all their efforts? That's just incredibly stupid.

See, this is something to actually be angry about and fight against.... but illegal immigration?....no

Is your basic objection to equal treatment (application?) of the law? If you are arguing that the law should be debated and possibly changed then I agree, but if you are arguing that the law, as written, should not be enforced equally then I disagree.

What is crazy is expecting about 5K ICE agents to patrol the entire US interior and to make timely arrests. That terrible, 25 year, delay (between the state/local "screw ups" and facing federal consequences) would (should?) not have occurred with adequate federal immigration law enforcement funding.

What does that article prove? And you asserted my beliefs on immigration. If you have any integrity, please cite comments I made to back them up. If not, continue with your hackery.

I'm not the one pretending to care about immigrants now that obama is out of office.

No, you're the one fabricating assertions about what others care about, and who doesn't have the integrity to back up those assertions with quotes or other evidence.

I would. but it's the apathy that's preventing me..... sorry, not sorry.

One would think ICE would have higher priorities than a guy with a 26-year old misdemeanor what with all the talk of “bad hombres.”

ICE may well have other reasons for their interest. The news story did not say why ICE became interested they simply guessed at it and solicited concurring opinions.

I guess, since this is obviously new information to me, I think the law is dumb as nails. Deporting a legal immigrant who came here as a child for minor criminal offenses is, IMO, too harsh.

My guess is that he was easier to find than those bad hombres. So, in a way, it's like looking for lost car keys under a light, finding an old French Fry and hollering "Success!" rather than looking in the bushes where the keys were actually dropped.

Maybe it was repeated infractions that tipped ICE off. Maybe it wasn't just the old misdemeanors.

Kalamazoo County Court records obtained by the Newschannel 3 I-Team show a long list of driving infractions and that Niec pled guilty to driving under the influence in 2008. That charge was erased from his record after he completed probation.

Over the last 10 years, he has had a number of tickets for speeding, causing a crash and failure to stop.

A domestic violence charge was filed against Niec in 2013, but he was found not guilty of that crime.

As far as I know -- they're just guessing right now as to what triggered his detention -- if they do deport him -- the charges will be made public. They might be able to just revoke his driving privileges and be done with it.

Maybe you should inquire as to why that "kid" (after 25 years) is not a US citizen.

Like I said above, this is all new to me. I always considered legal immigrants to be...well, legal. So, barring some sort of felony like drug trafficking, robbery, murder, etc., they simply get fined and sent along their way like the rest of us. I'm not sure I want to deport every legal immigrant who ever drove drunk or kicked his dog.

Yes, easier to fabricate positions held by others than have an actual discussion requiring thought. I don't blame you.

Can you tell us why it should matter? He was a permanent legal resident. Now you're moving the bar to "citizen" for some reason.
