Illegal immigration costs taxpayers in all 50 states a total of $89 billion, and California, pays the most at $23 billion, according to a new map of the costs. The website HowMuch.net, working with figures from the Federation for American Immigration Reform, found that Californians pay more than twice as much for illegal immigrants than the next closest state, Texas, where the price tag is $11 billion.

The costs cover added expenditures for education, welfare, law enforcement, and medical care. When federal costs are included, the price tag nationally soars to $135 billion a year.

FAIR’s data also includes the offset of taxes paid by illegal immigrants, though the numbers are much lower. In the state and local column, they are $3.5 billion. Nationally they are $15 billion.

The states paying the most to care for illegals:

1. California - $23,038,125,353

2. Texas - $10,994,614,550

3. New York - $7,489,141,357

4. Florida - $6,290,429,108

5. New Jersey - $4,466,838,574

6. Illinois - $3,220,767,517

7. Georgia - $2,487,719,503

8. North Carolina - $2,437,965,113

9. Maryland - $2,378,996,947

10. Arizona - $2,314,131,964

Map: Illegal immigration costs California most, $23B, all states $89B

The DNC is sure spending a lot of our money to change the demographics of the country. They've lied to us for years about the supposed financial benefits that illegals bring to the country, it turns out that illegal immigrants are a humongous financial liability, and don't actually contribute very much in comparison to what they cost us.

So why are we still stuck on stupid when it comes to this issue of illegal immigration? The common American man and woman don't benefit, they actually pay more in taxes.

Lol, they took data from "The Federation for American Immigration Reform", sounds legit and totally unbiased. In other news "The Federation for the Removal of Republicans" found Republicans are a huge financial and moral burden on our society.

It fits your narrative so you've already accepted it as indisputable fact.

The DNC has been fudging the numbers for years, hiding them, twisting them.

Illegal immigration costs the US big time and the small amount the illegals put back in the system doesn't come close to making a dent. That means American taxpayers are on the hook for the bulk of the cost.

What a detailed and informative response

What sticks out when looking at that is that California and New York also have the highest taxes. Coincidence? I don't know. Texas would be an anomaly.

Thank you. It's beyond stupid to take data from a group with a specific agenda and claim that data supports what the group stands for. It'd be a bit like using data gathered by a nazis group as a reason to not like Jews. These little blog articles make people with an agenda feel good but they don't match reality.

Has anyone in this thread who thinks this is truth taken a real look at the data directly from the source and looked at the conditions and standards used? Did this anti-immigration group quoted in the blog use official data from somewhere or did they randomly call people and ask what they think it costs?

I think that is low-balling the number.

I don’t know, what I know for sure is, you are pro-illegal alien and any number showing them a burden on society is bad for your cause so you won’t lift a finger to disprove any numbers for fear you’ll find them correct

Wow...that's like 1/4-1/5 of your military budget!! If only you guys cared about what happened outside of your country as much as what happens inside, imagine the money you could save!!

So it's my job to disprove the unproven horse **** that was shared from a blog? That's not how the burden of proof works. A blog is quoting an anti-immigrant group, no they don't get the benefit of the doubt especially when nobody can describe how they even got the data and from where.

And we all know that the left doesn't have any pro-illegal immigration think tanks, right? They actually operate dozens of them.

It also happens to fit what I've seen with my own eyes, as a public service employee in the state of California. Your hands on experience as an American living in Europe must be far superior to my credentials however...

I think the immigration issue is why we elected Trump. America thinks, and believes we have way to much immigration. If we look at history it has not been unheard of that we throttle immigration. I believe we did so as a nation from in the 20's till in the early 1960's, to give those here time to assimilate before we took on many more.. This only seems like a wise thing to do.

Unless your using immigration as a method or vehicle to buy the votes of those you are letting in... and that is not putting Americans first.

Which blog are you referring to? The Washington Examiner is not a blog anymore than the Washington Post is a blog. Yet both media organizations probably bring at least a tinge of bias to which articles they choose to publish. That's the nature of life in 2017, no one is truly unbiased anymore.

You'd never accept any outcome that didn't back your own particular beliefs when it comes to this issue. Any data that isn't in line with with your views can be deemed racist and disregarded.

So then you can't tell me exactly how the data was collected. You like what you hear so it must be true?

You are right.. Illegal immigration isn't costing us anything.

And all the hospitals in California closing their emergency rooms aren't happening.

Hospitals Feeling Strain From Illegal Immigrants

Yet you provide no source to counter the OP. What you give are opinions.

Provide a source or two which supports your views.

I don't have to counter something that was never proven in the first place. It's a blog who cites the 'data' of an anti-immigrant group.

Should I lazily Google some blogs that say what I want so you can run around trying to disprove it?

Plese keep the argument in the correct context.

There is too much illegal immigration. Legal immigration could probably be expanded if we could curtail illegal immigration.

Is it an anti-immigration group, or is it an anti illegal immigration group?

Anyone tally the subsidy illegal immigrants provide? Like lower produce prices, cheaper hotel rooms, lower priced entrees in restaurants? Our country has always benefited from immigrant labor, beginning with African slaves and now with migrants. If republican employers would stop hiring them, problem solved. But wait! That would deprive republican politicians of an issue.

Nobody is against immigrant labor. You seem to mistake illegal aliens/foreign felons for immigrants (foreign entity entering a country through legal channels).
The country can definitely benefit from immigrant labor, but not from illegal aliens.

Why do you blame republican employers when it id the democrats that want to keep them here?

Democrats are illegals’ political allies. Republicans benefit from their cheap labor. Symbiosis. Our country is addicted to cheap labor for centuries. Punish the employers and the problem disappears. But conservatives won’t do that: good grief!... that might even strengthen unions! We can’t have that!

So then you can't tell me exactly how the data was collected.

You think they picked the number '$23,038,125,353' out of a hat?

You like what you hear so it must be true?

It jives with what I've seen with my own two eyes. If you choose to only believe what DNC shills tell you about this subject, that's your choice.

I think that is low-balling the number.

You got that right. That number is the tip of the iceberg. They have destroyed entire industries that used to command middle class wages and safe working condition. They undermine everything our unions have fought for in this country for the last 100 year. The loss of middle class wages to these criminals dwarfs that 135 Billion. Unsafe working condition the loss of taxes paid by the legitimate contactors plus the taxes paid by their middle class employees these criminals have displaced could be 10 times that amount.
