This is who Trump is holding hostage for his wall

I'm some OK with the dreamers, but we can't keep having invasions from Mexico every time the economy heats up. They used to be known as "Anchor Babies" before the word police clamped down. It will keep happening over and over if we don't take our borders seriously. I don't know your personal situation, but in California most of the Mexican families are dirt poor to lower middle class, and are adding to the poverty rolls already over populated with other races.

Because they are escaping from poverty they are a much more motivated work force that our citizens, and are often a lot easier to get along with. I'll grant you that. But that does not make it right.

It's about controlling who comes in and who doesn't.

Maybe all the rich Mexicans moved to your town.

I totally agree that it's about controlling who comes in and who doesn't.
And we do need to actually clamp down on illegal immigration.

But, throwing out the "dreamers" is the wrong way to go. We need to end the exploitation of illegal labor, and no one is willing to give that idea more than lip service.

No, the "rich Mexicans" aren't living in my town. I think the're staying in Mexico. Who is living here are Hispanics, some from Mexico but mostly born in America, mostly lower middle class, mostly good citizens. As a "white non Hispanic," the government's official designation of me, I'm a minority here, and that's OK. How many of my neighbors are illegal, I don't know. Probably not many. Some of them no doubt date to Spanish California.

When Reagan signed amnesty into law back in the '80s, the little rural school where I was teaching was overrun by children who did not speak English and who had little to no formal education and who mostly didn't want to be here. We were poorly equipped to deal with such an invasion. I have first hand experience with amnesty, and am adamantly opposed to it.

I also knew students who were brought here as small children and had grown up in America. English was their preferred language. Many were honor roll students. They were quite different from the recent arrivals. Those are the ones who should stay.

Yes, by all means, let's control who comes into our country, but let's be honest about the cause of illegal immigration. The government is not willing to end it. Trump's "wall" idea has been bandied about before, and every time it's just a political game to make people think that the government is serious about illegal immigration. When they start handing out big fines to the people who are exploiting the illegals, then I'll start to believe. Until then, I remain skeptical.

If a burglar broke into your home and had a child with him, would the child also be guilty of burglary?

The purpose of the wall is the same as it always has been: To make people believe that the government is actually willing to do something about illegal immigration when they really are not. What makes you think that (1) the wall idea is something new or that (2) if the wall is built, the employers of illegals will somehow be sanctioned?

We all know how you feel about Mexican illegals, but you're being played: Trump and his minions have no plan to end illegal immigration. They just want you to think they do.

If that child was helping the burglar steal my stuff then yes that child is guilty. That child should not be entitled to stay in my home or keep any of my stuff he stole.

When the wall is being built by those who kiss the asses of illegals then sure the wall is just a way of making it seem as though they are doing something. Just like this wall/fence Bush had built. No one in their right mind would build something like that if they are trying to keep people out.

I realize that once we get another illegal ass kisser for president most or all the enforcement measures will go out the window. Sure there might be the occasional employer offered up as a sacrifical lamb to make it seem as though the government is doings its job so they can claim they don't work in order to push for amnesty. A properly built wall on the other hand will make it easy for border guards to secure the border regardless of how many enforcement measures inside the country are being ignored.

Cutting off funds to sanctuary cities is a good start. Those cities are magnets that draw in illegal immigration. But some politicians who kiss the asses of illegals shopped their case to a judge who kisses the asses of illegals. So now we will have to wait until it gets to the supreme court or hope that congress will enact a law.

Not HIS wall. It is OUR wall. Lots of Mexicans already here don't want any more coming in either, unless family. It brings their wages down. That is what they have told me personally and confidentially. I have daily contact with them.

Anchor babies and dreamers are not the same thing.

Anchor babies are the children of illegals that were born in the US and therefore have birthright US citizenship and due to some provisions in the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 are allowed to facilitate the chain migration of relatives other than spouses or minor children.Which that last part is why they are called anchor babies.

Dreamers are illegals. They were allegedly brought here across the border as small children. They are not citizens and therefor can not facilitate the chain migration of relatives other than spouse or minor children.

Rather than those who "kiss the asses of illegals," we need to look at those who exploit the labor of illegals. They're the ones encouraging illegals to scale the walls our government has built up in an attempt to make people believe that they're really serious about ending illegal immigration.

And, if you think Trump can build a wall that will keep them out when whoever built the wall in your video couldn't or didn't, then you are underestimating the creativity of people trying to get in to the country.

Illegal immigration is a problem that requires more than one solution. Cracking down on the scum who hire them is only one of those solutions. Just like a wall is only one of those solutions. Making sure illegals can't get tax payer aid for anyone in their family is another solution.Making sure illegals can't enroll themselves and others into school is another.Making sure illegals can't open a bank account is a solution.Making sure illegals can't get a state issued ID/driver's license, business licenses, or permits/licenses for anything else is another solution. Cutting off visas of any kind to problem countries is another solution because many of the illegal alien ass kissers who don't want the claim that nearly half of the people here illegally came here on a visa.

The wall in the video wasn't designed to keep people out.Bush had it built to make it seem as though he was addressing the problem so he and other illegal alien ass kissers can fraudulently claim that they tried to secure our border so now we need amnesty.

and all of the above except the boondoggle that is a wall are solutions to the problem.

The wall in the video is a great metaphor for all of the wall and fence ideas. None of them are being proposed to keep people out, but to fool people into thinking that the problem is being addressed.
