Here is a guy from Paradise, CA; Brigham Young University and Yale; and on the UNC faculty at Asheville, NC. No moral or ethical rebuttal from any Christian can be possible to his clear headed, clear hearted commentary on Herr Trump's DACA decision today. None.

Today President Trump announced his decision to rescind DACA. This is a significant issue to me, so I’m going to speak bluntly. Donald Trump campaigned on a nativist agenda that tapped into the dark forces of xenophobia and white nationalism. Anyone who voted for him chose to ignore that reality, I suppose because they thought that a Supreme Court justice, or tax reform, or less regulation, or renegotiated trade deals were worth it. Or perhaps they just hated Hillary Clinton.

But whatever the personal challenges you face, or your frustrations with government, if you think that your life will be improved by stripping the future from 800,000 hardworking, law-abiding young people who are caught in a failed immigration system through no fault of their own, I don’t see how you can consider yourself a Christian. Both the Old and New Testaments (as well as the Book of Mormon, for my LDS friends) consistently teach that God will judge us by how we treat the weakest and most vulnerable of our neighbors, and specifically “the strangers that sojourn among you.”

If I had voted for Donald Trump, today I would be deeply ashamed of that decision.

I'm not...especially when it comes to his Immigration efforts, evidenced by my continued support.

As posted elsewhere, even the President who created DACA stated it was outside his Presidential authority to do so.

Trump is merely enforcing current Immigration Law.

Stop blaming him, and write your Congressmen if you want the law to change.

I'm not sure why people are freaking out about this. Congress will pass an immigration law that most likely will keep everything the same anyway. Which is how things are suppose to work. Presidents don't write laws - Congress does.

Quit squirming. BHO said nothing of the sort. Now we will see which of the mainstream GOP will step forward and do the right thing, forcing Ryan and Mitchell to open and up and down vote to continue DACA. Trump would not dare veto such a bill.

It was NEVER ment to ... Thus meaning of Defered

This GOP congress has shown ZERO ability to pass any meaningful legislation in 8 months. Now they have bannon and Breitbart terrifying them from the alt-right with primary threats.

Only 11 more days of work in August and September for this part-time congress getting full time pay and benefits ...

Ryan hasn't got the guts to ditch the 'Hastert Rule' in fear of bannon and Breitbart, trump's go to advisors along with Miller ...

Obama knew when he signed that EO that he was overstepping. The POTUS doesn't write law. Period. When he signed DACA, he wrote law. That's not his purview. And he knew it. His legal team advised him of it... reminded him that it could be undone by the next POTUS. But, of course, he like so many others was sure a Dem would succeed him. And, by then, itnwould be too late to do anything about it.

He took a calculated risk when he did it. He, like so many others, was wrong.

Now, Trump could have simply rescinded it. Done. Over. But he didn't do that. He put it back into the hands of the legislative branch which is exactly where it belonged in the first place.

So he did not say what you said he said. Squirming.

Let's see if Congress can represent all the people for a change.

Hmmm, and here I was thinking de-Nile was a river in Egypt. ;)

People keep arguing how D.A.C.A. should remain in force, it is only the humane thing to do...

With respect to the notion that I can just suspend deportations through Executive Order, that's just not the case. Because, there are laws on the books that Congress has passed...Congress passed the law, the Executive branches job is to enforce and implement those laws...There are enough laws on the books that are very clear on how we have to enforce our immigration system. That for me to simply through Executive Order ignore those Congressional mandates, would not conform with my appropriate role as President.

Literally this.

If you disagree with this post you have no concept of how our legislature works and shouldn't be posting on matters related to it.

They couldn't pass a Stone.

It's now time to play GOP election politics for the next 15 months as the GOP did for the last 8 years.

GOP lawmakers from swingy CDs trying to cover their asses must not be let off the hook ...

"Herr Trump"? Yeah, you are dismissed out of hand.

First Big D didn't face the cameras to announce this, he send is favorite whipping boy to do his dirty work.

Next he EASILY could have said he is ending DACA at some future date so that Congress could act without all this silly business.

Congress seemed quite happy to let Obama 'over reach' for all Boehner whined and postured for the cameras, they didn't pass any laws to either support or restrict DACA.

Lastly more than likely Congress will put a DACA like bill up, but you have to wonder why they didn't back when Obama was in office- seems like pure partisan politics... :peace
