Herr Trump passed the line today with DACA repeal

First Big D didn't face the cameras to announce this, he send is favorite whipping boy to do his dirty work.

Next he EASILY could have said he is ending DACA at some future date so that Congress could act without all this silly business.

Congress seemed quite happy to let Obama 'over reach' for all Boehner whined and postured for the cameras, they didn't pass any laws to either support or restrict DACA.

Lastly more than likely Congress will put a DACA like bill up, but you have to wonder why they didn't back when Obama was in office- seems like pure partisan politics... :peace

:) makes one wonder, yes

Doesn't have to, that's what people like Sessions are for.

Doesn't have to. It was an abuse of Presidential power to create DACA in the first place. Even Obama stated in 2011 it was Congress' role to pass laws (referring to immigration, and his not creating DACA-like E.O.'s) and the Executive branch to enforce them.

Congress seemed quite happy to let Obama 'over reach' for all Boehner whined and postured for the cameras, they didn't pass any laws to either support or restrict DACA.

Of course the Republican controlled Congress felt that way. The better to lay the blame on him when it backfires. Seems like the Left are doing a lot of blame shifting rather than calling out the originator of this policy on his creation of it.

Probably. Same may prevent them from acting today.

I thought you were joking, you mean you really don't know?

Wow ...

I don't know what YOU exactly "ment" by your comment.

Quit squirming. BHO said nothing of the sort. Now we will see which of the mainstream GOP will step forward and do the right thing, forcing Ryan and Mitchell to open and up and down vote to continue DACA. Trump would not dare veto such a bill.

He posted the video of Obama saying just that. :doh

Yeah the executive branch *not* refusing to prosecute things which are against the law by grossly illegal executive order sure is evil.

Trump Derangement Syndrome in full force.

I don't know what YOU exactly "ment" by your comment.

I want to know what noun he was trying to append as a result of an action, or what adjective he wanted to turn into a noun?

He must have no clue what you do for a living.

Here is a guy from Paradise, CA; Brigham Young University and Yale; and on the UNC faculty at Asheville, NC. No moral or ethical rebuttal from any Christian can be possible to his clear headed, clear hearted commentary on Herr Trump's DACA decision today. None.

Today President Trump announced his decision to rescind DACA. This is a significant issue to me, so I’m going to speak bluntly. Donald Trump campaigned on a nativist agenda that tapped into the dark forces of xenophobia and white nationalism. Anyone who voted for him chose to ignore that reality, I suppose because they thought that a Supreme Court justice, or tax reform, or less regulation, or renegotiated trade deals were worth it. Or perhaps they just hated Hillary Clinton.

But whatever the personal challenges you face, or your frustrations with government, if you think that your life will be improved by stripping the future from 800,000 hardworking, law-abiding young people who are caught in a failed immigration system through no fault of their own, I don’t see how you can consider yourself a Christian. Both the Old and New Testaments (as well as the Book of Mormon, for my LDS friends) consistently teach that God will judge us by how we treat the weakest and most vulnerable of our neighbors, and specifically “the strangers that sojourn among you.”

If I had voted for Donald Trump, today I would be deeply ashamed of that decision.

False appeal to authority here--Dr. Hardy's academic credentials don't change his opinion into a fact. And he also doesn't seem to understand the difference between "rending unto Caesar" and the decisions of conscience we must all make as individuals.

And then there's the whole "You're not a Christian if...." gambit.

I'm not a Christian. (just wanted to get that red herring out of the way from the get-go)

For all his academic credentials, this guy strikes me as a short-sighted demagogue. If he actually used his intellect, he would be thanking Trump for forcing Congress to actually address this dreamer thing and actually do something about it. He should be inundating his Congressmen with demands that THEY deal with the dreamers the way he thinks they should.

And, in support of our government, he should be thanking Trump for removing one of Obama's power grabs.

Mycroft and Nota Bene are making a mountain out of a mole hill. Only in Nota Bene's opinion is that a false appeal to authority. His credentials add weight to his insight. And N B does not realize in doing so just made a fallacy of a false equivalency of "rending unto Caesar" with Herr Trump's act. It is true that if one supports Trump's action, then one is not a true Christian. However, I doubt if anyone ever assumed Herr Trump was ever a true Christian.

Mycroft takes the long road home when a short cut, as explained below, is level and straight to the answer.

The fact is that Herr Trump could have extended DACA for six months so Congress could act on it, and if not, give notice that he would issue an EO ending DACA.

That was a dif interp of what BHO said. Next.

Did you ever watch that particular video?

Nothing to interp. It is what it is.

I guess you need to define what a "true Christian" is then. ;)

Think Scotland here.

Time to Godwin..............

First word of the title.

;) Not hardly, but go for it.

This President is the most divisive president in our history.

This country was the most divided it has been since the Civil War BEFORE we elected Trump.

I have nothing to "go for".

But if you can't even get the title out without Godwinning don't expect anyone to take you seriously.

I don't really give much of a fig for your opinion on this at all. Please, if it makes you happy to yell "Godwin", go for it. ;)

Because the far right could not handle that they were the minority to a man they could not stand. And now the Trump supporters are horrified their guy, who is not even fit to tie Obama's shoes, is handled the same way.
