Armed ICE agents show up to search Michigan restaurant, owner refuses entry

No warrant, no search.

It's, like.....the law, and ****.

To be clear, no warrant is necessary to simply enter a public area with no expectation of privacy.

That would include the service area of a restaurant open to the public.

However, they would need either owner's permission or a duly exercised warrant to enter the non-public areas where the owner does have an expectation of privacy, or to search the entire facility.

Meanwhile, business owners can always selectively rescind permission individually for visitor's to their property.

Absent a warrant, the officers can be asked to leave. That's what they did.

Had one show up at my house looking for an old neighbor, told him he had the wrong house, he asked if he could come in and look around, I said "As soon as I see your warrant, sure but without a warrant I cant let you in there.

If I would of let him in and a roach was laid out, it would of been fair game, if he came in with a warrant with so and so's name, it would not hold up in court.

I also never give consent to search my person or possesions, I got done being searched on the GP when I got done being an inmate. Screw that noise.

Shoulda said, "no sir, you misunderstand. When I say you got the wrong house what I mean is what we got here is a red-blooded, God-fearin', gun-totin', Trump supportin', liberal hatin', wall-buildin' house. If I seen me a greasy no-good illegal android skulkin' around here, why I'd notify the police immediately and hold him under citizen's arrest until you came to deport him and the rest of his family. Now you have a good night, officer."

lol..

The problem isn't illegals who work hard, but rather the ones out committing crimes, being deported & illegally reentering the country over and over. ICE should be concentrating catching the criminals.

I don't like agreeing with you either.

Yeah, on my personal list of places ICE should prioritize searching for illegals, "at work" isn't high on the list.

Granted, that is a bit oversimplified. I realize violent criminals can have jobs too.

Low-hanging fruit.

Yep. The ones who are working, raising families, and paying bills are obviously going to be the easiest to find since they leave a paper trail.

One of my neighbors years ago was a Norteno shot caller who worked days at a factory. But his real money came from that yayo. He was probably the only one at his factory with two new cars and a house, besides the owner.

Well, the smartest criminals usually do have a cover business/job. Nothing says upstanding member of society like a W-2. ;)

It's easier to pad their numbers with teenagers and general laborers.
