Trump Tells DHS To Prepare For Border Wall Construction

You don't have any room to talk.

Ohhhh, someone doesn't get sarcasm, lol.

How the hell is that even false dichotomy? It's not. I didn't say it had to be no wall or the Berlin Wall, just that we should make it look like it for old time sake.

A memo from the Department of Homeland Security, which was recently reviewed by Reuters, suggest that the Trump administration plans to hit the ground running on the construction of that U.S.-Mexico border wall when they move into the White House later this month.

Ah, the promised infrastructure spending.

Whoop-de-do.

Anytime a the idea of a wall on our border comes up all the pro-illegals come out with the Berlin wall comparison.

The Berlin wall was a nasty checkpoint, but it was less than a hundred miles long when completed and not quite twelve feet tall. The twenty-six miles between E. and W. Berlin was heavily guarded with soldiers having automatic weapons.

There is no comparison.

Two thousand and two hundred miles is our anticipated build. Probably much taller too. Then we will run into constant problems in Texas where the Rio Grande changes it's course frequently. That's not a very solid foundation for the wall.

That explains a great deal about you.

It explains a lot about how this game is played, a subject I very much doubt that you understand.

If he was only just a so-so politician his mouth should be his best tool.

How embarrassing for you.

That you dont know.

So now we're going to be blowing them up? I mean, they'd have to be explored first, yes? You cannot explode a tunnel that may have people with it.

So now we have the wall, some untold number of ground-radar devices to sense tunnels, exploratory teams to close tunnels down, and explosives to detonate them under the wall above, which we're going to assume will cause no structural problems. Yes. Great.

tunnels are expensive to build and easy to find and destroy

if that is the drug cartels answer to trumps wall then bring it on and they will lose

I would hope the Trump people ask the Europeans and especially the Spaniards and Israeli what have been their experiences with walls and super fences. They have been using them for quite a while.

What surprises me a little is that accessibility of Executive Orders could seem worth mentioning. If Obama hasn't been supplying documents, that would be rather niggardly and somewhat silly

The Chinese have a lot of experience in wall construction.Maybe Trump should hire some of their experts.

They built a fine set of walls. So did the Romans, as a matter of fact. And both worked quite well for a time. But those builders are long dead as are the maintenance crews. In Eastern Europe, Israel and North Africa the defences are still in function and new enough, so that the builders' expertise a experiences with these fine structures can still be drawn upon and live comparisons made as to the efficiencies. ;)
