A good article on Truman wrongly using nuclear weapons

lol, like you ignore the expert scholars who say the bombs were what mattered?

Can you refute the fact that the Jewel Broadcast makes no mention of the Soviets? Or that the Soviet invasion did not change the minds of the War Council?

You don't know what a heavy bomber is. *sigh*

All you have is your hatred for America. You'll say anything.

It's why we didn't vote for Bernie, Bernie hates America too.

Let's make it personal.

Were you afraid to serve?

Was it bone spurs?

Were you gay?

Just be honest with us

I love it when we get personal

Actually, I have been inside of many bombers over the decades. Everything from WWII era B-25s, B-17s, B-29s, even modern BUFFs and Lancers. Flown in a few also. Including the "Heavenly Body", a B-25 that spent decades at the Van Nuys Airport until being evicted.

It sits in a museum now, but it was one of the last flight operational B-25s left.

He has never seen a bomber except in a movie

We cite facts, you are the one that screams "all the experts".

Tell us the experts who said the Soviet Bombing was going to destroy Japan.

And stop with the insults already, they are petty and only show what little facts you have to stand on.

Do I hate America? Is it a insult when I am accused of that?

You police your own first.

You have nothing

Dismissed

I have. And as you saw, I very clearly cited very critical things, like number of bombers available, bomb load delivery, and other very specific technical information.

You just spout denials and insults.

You cite "experts" that are not named, he actually quotes from the Golden Voice speech of the Emperor himself. The one who ended the war.

What? You dont know the name of the expert I cited?

Now you are simply lying

Based on a detailed investigation of all the facts and supported by the testimony of the surviving Japanese leaders involved, it is the Survey’s opinion that certainly prior to 31 December 1945 and in all probability prior to 1 November 1945, Japan would have surrendered even if the atomic bombs had not been dropped, even if Russia had not entered the war, and even if no invasion had been planned or contemplated.

The Biggest Decision: Why We Had To Drop The Atomic Bomb | AMERICAN HERITAGE

Hisatsune Sakomizu, the chief Cabinet secretary in 1945, called the bombing "a golden opportunity given by heaven for Japan to end the war".

Exactly so... it gave the "submerged class" identified by Secretary Stimson the opportunity to assert themselves over the militarists. If Truman had tried to soft shoe the run-up to the invasion of Kyushu by trying to initiate peace talks, at best the militarists would have argued it was a sign of weakening US resolve and at worst they would have tried to drag out the talks to give themselves more time to establish their defenses. Either way - and even without a land invasion - the air campaign the USAAF had envisioned for summer-fall 1945 would have entailed many times more civilian casualties than the two atomic bombs did.

No.one is buying this dude.

The quotes speak for themselves

Exactly. They did not want to admit it was the Russians

Where in the 9 August meeting were the Soviets mentioned? Where in the Jewel Broadcast were the Soviet mentioned?

*LOL* This is fun... I don't know if y'all use the ignore feature or not.... but I highly recommend it if you don't. I know Vegas is posting his bat**** crazy **** to me, but all I see is this:

Vegas Ignore.jpg

It's like running into some obnoxious and annoying idiot on the street and then pressing a button to mute them.

What an asinine justification for doing wrong just because they did. I guess a guy who rapes a child should have his child raped. He should have thought of that!

If you wage flat out total war, then what happens happens.

You think we should have surrendered to Tojo, just so bad things wouldn't happen?

Maybe we should have killed every man, women and child in Japan......just to show them whose boss

Kill em all. Get er done. Murica

Freedom baby

It was that or invade. Based on what happened in Okinawa, how many people on both sides would have died in an invasion of Japan proper?

Well not according to the greatest military minds this country has ever known.

But screw them

Kill em all
