Is There an American Empire, Yes or No.

I think we are and, in many cases, we are causing ourselves more headaches and problems than we think we are solving. Sometimes it just takes a decade or so for those rotten fruit to show. I think our biggest failings have been how we've handled our foreign policies.
 
In a sense that America is an international power with influence over vast swathes of the world, yes.

But not in the traditional sense of it being an Empire ruled by an Emperor.

What did Glenn Greenwald ever do to you personally to deserve such anger? You seem to be very angry at anyone who voices an opinion which does not align with your own. There is not only anger but rage in many of your posts. This is supposed to be a friendly debate site and not a crucible for bitter emotions through the venting of rage. Life's too short and fleeting to carry such anger about all the time. I am not a doctor but it seems to be unhealthy. So rather than provoking you more, I will just say good night and be well.

The man is a pompous hack who spends his time sputtering about how important he thinks he is and throwing tantrums whenever Western countries are involved in the wider world. For example, the ****fit thrown over assistance being granted to the Malians to help fight off another wave of jihadi thugs. It doesn’t matter to people like Greenwald what the people of Mali wanted(spoiler alert— not to be overrun by gangs of psychotic thugs who had spent years slaughtering civilians) it was intervention, and intervention is baaaaad. Not to mention the chorus of weeping and wailing that breaks out whenever a brutal anti American dictator goes down.

Considering that there are literal Rhodesia fanboys and Franco/Pinochet apologists on this board—-not to mention the folks who can’t even grasp the idea that killing unarmed civilians isn’t a good thing—“friendly” was never anywhere on the table for a lot of people.

Thank you for the sentiment, but I still consider your ideas, to, to be put politely as possible, incorrect.
 
America has a military foothold in every corner of the globe but I wouldn't call it an Empire though, more of a hegemony.

Imperialism today is more about wealth than land and armies. We control the world with our wealth as much as our defense.

We are on a slow and steady decline from this thrown. Our goal as a human society should be to accept this slow and steady decline, but also work diligently to assure the wealth is transferred across as many countries as possible for the fate of the world.

Having all of our corporations outsourcing to asia and especially china is an absolute mistake for the long term liberation of people.

South america and Africa should be targeted for sourcing and partnerships.
