Rep. Michael McCaul is right actually, why are so few people in the world know it today ? and why Muscovite empire (which declared itself USSR successor in 1991) does not pay compensation (after Nuremberg N2) to Ukrainians?

"
A Texas congressman compared the Holocaust to a man-made famine that decimated the Soviet Ukraine in the early 1930s.

Speaking this week at a conference organized by the conservative American Enterprise Institute, Rep. Michael McCaul, a Republican and the House Homeland Security Committee chairman, said that “Stalin killed more people in Ukraine than Hitler killed Jews in World War II. They basically worked them to death for the bread and the food that they made in Ukraine.”

It depends. Modern estimates of the Holocaust sit at around 6 million Jews, although some estimates put it at 5 million.

Most estimates put Ukrainians deaths during the Holodomor at around 3-4 million, with some rounded up to 5. euromaidanpress.com/2016/11/27/holodomor-victims-death-toll-stalin-famine-ukraine-estimates/

So, maybe, but it seems more likely that more Jews were killed in the Holocaust than Ukrainians died in the Holodomor.

The post war famine was a direct response of the devastation of Soviet infrastructure and agriculture during WWII. I'm not sure you can really pin the blame on Moscow for that.

Continuing on -- Others claim that the Soviet policies that caused the famine were an engineered attack on Ukrainian nationalism, or more broadly, on all peasants, in order to prevent uprisings.

its a stalinist myth. Muscovite Asiatic occupants robbed off Ukrainians, Belarusians, Moldovans , Cossacks grain and literally all anther food .

Your hate boner for Russians is veering dangerously close to straight up ethnic bigotry.

Sure, and some people claim that Marxism was really just a Jewish plot.

I find it hard to believe that the Soviets were seriously worried about Ukrainian nationalist uprisings after WW2, considering more Ukrainians were awarded for their service in the Red army than there were Ukrainian volunteers for the Germans.

its absolutely correct , Ukraine is the biggest European country , for Asiatic commie occupants it was too big to swallow

Droughts and famines in Russia and the Soviet Union - Wikipedia
Droughts and famines in Russia and the Soviet Union - Wikipedia
The last major famine in the USSR happened mainly in 1947 as a cumulative effect of consequences of collectivization, war damage, the severe drought in 1946 in over 50 percent of the grain-productive zone of the country and government social policy and mismanagement of grain reserves. The regions primarily affected were Transnistria in Moldova and South Eastern Ukraine.[39][40] Between 100,000 and one million people may have perished.[41]

The European Ukrainian population was larger than the Jewish population. Hitler also killed more ethic Slavs than Jews, but the entire Slavic population was nowhere near complete annihilation as the Jewish population was.

Hitler killed something like 50 million ethnic slavs, so even Hitler killed more ethnic slavs than he did Jewish

It was also mismanagement. Farmers with knowledge of farming were killed or sent east, and that caused a crisis in itself.

All he does is start negative threads about Russian history and modern events.

He even posted a thread that favored the Nazi occupation of Hungary over its liberation by Soviet troops. Twisted.

1. Prague is capital of Czechoslovakia, not Hungary , than ask the locals how they called 55 years of Stalinist occupation
2. oldman, its an outdated Stalinist trick , to call anyone who is against Stalinist occupation and Asiatic tyranny is Nazi & fascist . you guys have called Israeli Jews for Nazis& fascist s in 70-80s , Finns in 30-40s, Americans in 70-80s, Ukrainians, Balts, Georgians today . it does not work anymore ,

Some might ask whether Applebaum’s writing is more accessible to “non-specialist” readers. There are many excellent writers among Slavic specialists, and a more accurate account could easily have been presented in clear and simple language. Applebaum’s writing does not “simplify” the truth, it obscures it, as discussed in this review. Red Famine thus does not fit well in the existing scholarly literature, even as “popular history.” Its interpretation resembles that of Conquest’s Harvest of Sorrow, and it does use recent published sources that provide vivid descriptions of many people’s experiences in the famine. But it leaves out too much important information, has false claims on key points, and draws unjustified conclusions on important issues based on incomplete use of sources, making it not even close to the level of genuine scholarship, like Davies and Wheatcroft’s Years of Hunger. Red Famine is better characterized by a passage from Peter Kenez’s book on The Birth of the Propaganda State: “propaganda often means telling less than the truth, misleading people … manipulating and distorting information, lying” and addresses “audiences in simple language…”
