Donald Rumsfeld Memos Released Early This Year

Hard to know what to make of all that.

One oddity in all of those was his central theme that the "central planning" of the Pentagon was public enemy #1
And then he proceeds to "centrally plan" as much as he possibly can, in the some 60 or so "snowflakes" he dolls out every day from apparently his stream of consciousness micro-management style.

I think Republicans like this are ignorant of the size of the nation. They come in and freak out when they see a giant organization... OMFG it's so big it's so terrible!!! What do they think of our population size...it's too big to manage and it's terrible and has to be reduced?

I haven't yet had time to digest these, but I think it should be emphasized that Donald Rumsfeld was hardly a stranger to government bureaucracy or the defense bureaucracy. He had been in it since the Nixon administration. But Rumsfeld more or less had it in his brain that the era called for things to be streamlined and nimbler, which more or less was true, but when taken to a logical extreme (which it did), caused his downfall.
