The Fallen of World War II

I found this video in my recommended videos and found it very interesting. It tallies all the dead both military and civilian of World War II then compares it to other points in history. It kind of gives you a sense of the scale of the sheer numbers killed in the war. And remember this is just killed not wounded.

WW II was an appaling slaughter of human life and the 20th Century was a blood-soaked century with an estimated 147 million conflict-related deaths in total. The words, "Lest We Forget", have never been more important since the close of that gruesome century. The Great Peace which the video touts is deceptive for it does not include the millions of deaths attributed to internal policies of ruthless states and crumbling empires upon their own peoples. Man's inhumanity to man knew no bounds in the 20th Century. Let us hope that the 21st and following centuries are better at avoiding the ravages of war and conflict.
