I'm quite pleased that Obama is forcing to come to terms with war crimes that our country committed in Japan at the end of World War II.

Of course, Neoconfederates seize on the opportunity to criticize people who hold Abraham Lincoln in high repute.

In my mind there's no greater crime a nation can commit than systemic, codified racism. Ordinary I'm a pacifist and don't like wars even against bad dictators in the middle east. That's why the fire bombing of Dresden was justified and the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were not (the Japanese were despotic but at least they weren't motivated by racist intentions). Because warfare in the 18th century couldn't cause as much environmental devastation as it does today,in my mind there was no death toll too high in order to live in a society for people of color aren't sold as property.

Obviously you know little or nothing about the mind set of Imperial Japan at the time. They were just as racist as the Germans.

I think that they were actually a bit more racist than even the US ever was at its very height. At least the government was. No idea about the general populous.

Quite possibly. After all, the general populace still treats Koreans like **** to this day.

I think it's the whole "island nation" thing. Too isolated from the outside world for too long.

Which war crimes did The United States commit at the end of WW2?

OMG....

The Japanese were virulently racist....

There was nothing wrong with the atomic bombings. Perhaps if those savages had simply keeled over and surrendered before us, they wouldn't have had to face the Atomic Bomb.

Their not so bright response to our surrender demands was to begin mobilizing civilians for a last stand.

Hope they learned their lesson. Don't **** with us.

The Japenese, like nearly all* people who've ever lived, were extremely racist. That has nothing to do with the justness of WWII on our part, or the immorality of the firebombings and nuclear bombings.

*Except whites. Whites have usually only been moderately racist. That's part of why we're superior.

You really should at least try and have a general working knowledge of a topic before you start a post about it. To state that the Japanese weren't motivated by racist intentions is very good proof that you know not of what you speak.like on an epic level rarely seen on this site.

How could you make a thread like this without taking the time to research? The Japanese were killing people for the sole reason of not being the right kind of Asian back then. They killed millions of other Asians.

"Hiro" and "Nagi" was nothing compared to what the Japanese did to China, Phillipines, and other Asian countries.

The Japanese are still racist today.

You also fail to mention the West African governments who have apologized to their citizens in recent years for selling off their native people back then.

You also failed to mention slave owners throughout Africa, Middle East, Europe, and the black slave owners on U.S. soil.

Nobody is clean on this.
