Vaping-linked severe lung disease outbreak reaches 215 cases, officials say
U.S. health officials are investigating 215 possible cases of severe lung disease associated with vaping across 25 states, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration said in a joint statement Friday.
The agencies said they need more information to understand whether there’s a relationship between specific products or substances and the reported illnesses. As of now, it does not appear the cases are linked to one particular product, the agencies said, noting that in “many” of the cases, patients reported using THC or CBD, compounds found in cannabis.
I vaped for a bit, one day I hacked up blood, I stopped then and there.

It is the additives and how they set them up to produce HUGE amounts of "steam." It causes "popcorn lung." It isn't the vaping directly, but how Vape Shops sell pipes designed to make massive amounts of steam laced with chemicals for flavor - to insure you have to keep coming back for more vaping liquid to put in it.

For example, by comparison a pot vaping set up produces almost NO steam and has NO artificial chemicals in it for flavor. Massive amounts of chemical laced steam is not necessary in vaping to get the nicotine, just like it isn't necessary to get THC by vaping.

Been vaping now for almost 6 years. Best thing after smoking 1 to 2 packs/day for 40 years.

It sounds like the kids "overdosed".

"At this time, there does not appear to be one product involved in all of the cases, although THC and cannabinoids use has been reported in many cases." THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is the psychoactive substance within cannabis.
In Wisconsin, health officials said Thursday that a majority of the cases in their state had inhaled THC products.

I've covered the gambit as far as putting stuff in my lungs. Not a damn thing good about any of it.

Was not God's purpose for your lungs.

Christ, what an unbelievably stupid thing to say. The article is about a disease, not about "overdosed", and while they do not know what it is or what is causing it, people are also getting it from nicotine vaping products. Pay attention before spewing.

PS: You can't die from "overdosing" THC.

You keep making this statement about vaping causing "popcorn lung" but there isn't a single case of this ever happening.........

Edit: Not only that, the connection between vaping and potential "popcorn lung" has absolutely nothing to do with the "huge" amounts of steam but the chemical diacetyl which is used in more "buttery" flavors. You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

my wife and i disagree on this issue, but vaping doesn't seem to be as bad as smoking cigarettes, IMO. they're investigating 215 cases? how about 480,000 deaths?

Fast Facts | Fact Sheets | Smoking & Tobacco Use | CDC

either way, i kicked smoking more than ten years ago, and it was one of the best decisions that i've ever made. my lungs feel a lot better. i tried vaping for a minute, but i didn't see a great reason to inhale PEG, so i didn't continue. i suppose that it's possible that vaping might have long term consequences that are the equivalent of smoking tobacco, but i haven't seen evidence of it at this point.

and like i say in almost every smoking cessation discussion that i get into on or offline, thank you, Allen Carr. your book helped to give me a fighting chance to see my kid grow up. Rest in peace.

Good grief, man. Got your knickers all into a twist over nothing. The majority of the cases were users of THC and I put overdosed in inverted commas. The word overdose does not necessarily mean to kill oneself.

If people were getting it from just nicotine vaping, you would have heard about hundreds of thousands of cases starting more than 5 years ago.

Sorry, pal; but these were youngsters who combined **** with THC to get high, in other words, stupid potheads.

And now you're trying to paper over your idiotic comment by lying about mine and throwing in the usual trollishness. At no point did I said it was just from nicotine vaping.

You said "It sounds like the kids "overdosed".

That was completely idiotic, wrong, bad and dumb.

Says the guy who is worried that anything negative might be associated with pot smoking.

Potheads.

Don't worry. If vaping doesn't kill you, Trumps destruction of EPA pollution regulations probably will.

Yeah, how could I forget to add today's daily dose of STUPID to the thread, let's talk about Trump, cause someone says he's BAD, **** let's not talk about the TOPIC let's BRING TRUMP INTO IT so we can get our daily dose OF MY GOSH TRUMP IS EVIL in. TDS'ers are as bad as militant vegans in being annoying, off topic and tying the strangest **** to their fetish.

Heisenberg 3mg nicotine

I thought about trying that juice but I didn't wasn't sold on them adding coloring to make it blue, I wonder if that played a part in your issue.

Dunno, but as far as taste and quality I loved it, sadly... lungs hacked blood, blood from lungs, according to page 12, line 1 of "Lungs, a user manual" that's a very bad thing.

Yeah, I would have dropped it as well if that were happening. All I know is that since moving from smoking to vaping I no longer cough or snore and just all around breathe better. Will likely quit vaping pretty soon as I have already moved away from nicotine and only vape now because I enjoy the different flavors.

I do find the irony rather hilarious that millions of people have quit smoking due to vaping and yet the CDC/FDA doesn't have enough evidence to say vaping can help one quit smoking, but 200 or so kids getting lung disease from vaping THC/CBD and God knows what else is somehow evidence that vaping in general is the cause. I'm thinking it is more about the tobacco industry and the government losing precious revenue rather than a real concern for the health of those that vape.
