Trump Just Revolutionized Health Care — And Nobody Noticed – Issues & Insights
6 hours ago · Trump Just Revolutionized Health Care — And Nobody Noticed Venezuela: A Humanitarian Crisis The Left Couldn't Care Less About 'Socialist' Countries' Retreat From Bernie's Socialist Health Care Solution What We're Reading Today: Worst Regulation Of The Century, Normal Becomes Abnormal, Did The Fed Cause Buffalo's Malaise?
“Together, over time, these changes would give workers more transparency into — and more control over — the health-care dollars that are now spent by other people on their behalf. That transparency and control, in turn, would create a powerful market incentive for health-care payers and providers to lower prices and increase quality.”
Once that happens, the last thing these millions of newly empowered health care shoppers will want is to be shuffled into a one-size-fits-all government plan designed for the masses by socialists like Bernie Sanders....

Good first steps. Now we need...> A fully competitive prescription drug marketplace... > Transparent pricing for all medical services (if somebody can go to jail for screwing with the charges on your auto repairs, so much more so for padding a bill for your medical treatment). This pricing and estimate needs to be provided to you BEFORE anything can be charged and violations for undisclosed and unauthorized charges should be SEVERE.... > Level pricing for services by each individual doctor’s office and hospital — no more with the checking the insurance and the clients history to see what ‘could be’ afforded and charging that; everyone at that doctor’s office pays the same rate for a physical, same rate for blood work, and the hospital you stay charges each patient the same price for the overnight stay. And that would get rid of the $400 for two Aspirin BS that people with “good” insurance get charged now, while Medicare patients get charged $8 (or the max Medicare reimbursement for aspirin).
That's exactly what it means. Just like you can take your 401(k) plan with you after you change jobs. It's an HSA (Health Savings Account) and not a FSA (Flexible Spending Account) as FSA's are much more limited and are usually "use it or lose it" type accounts. Also, FSA's aren't as portable should you change jobs.

Nobody noticed because it's not going to do jack **** to control costs. Half-measures availed us nothing.

Mark his words, this will be a historical event to remember. The day Trump revolutionized healthcare. Surely Fox News will lead this story and this will be the centerpiece of their campaign for 2020. Right?

Did he just release a plan to give free cover to the poor and uninsurable? No? Get back later then.

Ugh, even when the right is almost on the right track they misunderstand their own talking points. More off-ramps from the employer-based system into the marketplaces would be good! That was the point of the SHOP exchanges and employee free choice vouchers the GOP attacked (indeed, they repealed the latter!).

But further segmenting the market--into an ACA-compliant marketplace, separate "short-term" individual plan and AHP sub-markets for siphoning off better risks, and the employer space--is the opposite of the point. The objective should be to force insurers to compete aggressively on tackling underlying cost drivers, not compete on gaming the system and segmenting off more favorable risks as they did in the pre-ACA world.

Screwing the sick is a stupid and unsustainable strategy for orienting a health system.

Bingo.

In laymans terms.. A way for employers to pay for healthcare.. but not purchase that healthcare..... good.

BUT encouraging people to do without ACA compliant healthcare (which covers people so that they don't rack up bills that the rest of us have to pay).. into "short term"plans and into risk avoidance insurance schemes... is bad.
