Doesn’t anyone think it’s ****ed up that prisoners get 3 square meals & free healthcare, meanwhile we have homeless veterans.

They should be required to labor, longer hours than people in the workforce.

Why does OP wanna put homeless vets in prison.

Don’t put some many people in jail then give the food that was going to go to convicts and redirect it to homeless veterans.

If the veteran is experiencing some difficulties due to something related to their service then they actually do get healthcare for that. Depending on how severe, it can be full healthcare. That aside, these things aren't comparable. If someone serves their full 20 then they get their pension for life and also decent medical coverage. It doesn't bother me if random vets are homeless if it has nothing to do with anything I mentioned above.

No, because this is a pretty useless sentiment.

There was a national prison hunger strike last year to protest conditions. Crowding is becoming so bad that in CA, they had to release prisoners.

The U.S. has the highest death rate for inmates in the world, even over Brazil and Russia.

Yeah... being a prisoner is a real luxury. Yep.

since I am one of the afore mentioned I would like to state, the process for which is required is audacious, lengthy and complex. There are many ‘random’ vets that gave up on the system and now suffer because of it and the only thing they have to show for it is a broken life. I believe that is what I was referring to.

There are a LOT of homeless veterans, and while I am sure some exist, the vast majority of homeless vets didn’t do 20 years.

and not just our veterans, but we have a ton of homeless and poor people in general, but we're also locking people up for years for dumb ****.

but, we can increase our military budget by billions of dollars every year and keep invading random middle eastern or african countries that haven't attacked us.

There have been many fine points already made about the relative inanity of the first post in this thread, but i'd like to add that most homeless people in the US actually eat better than most prisoners in the US.

If you try to do it yourself.
I always recommend that prospective applicants either hire a VA disability law firm, or enlist the help of the DAV or PVA when filing an application, especially if it is for disability comp and pen.

Navigating the VA bureaucracy is indeed very difficult but if you have a pro do it, chances are very good you will be enrolled with a good outcome.
It's about the same as dealing with Social Security disability.

Get help, that's what all those veterans service organizations are for, it is why they exist.

Is there some magical Vendetta Musheen that can magically cut off prisoner food and healthcare and randomly make it all appear in front of every homeless veteran on every streetcorner?

No? Well, then are you trying to claim that "because we spend X amount of dollars on prisoner food and healthcare, that is why we don't have money to help homeless vets?"
Is that it? Are you claiming that the money to help homeless vets got "ate up" by prisoners?

Connect those dots for me please, because what I see is an ever expanding FOR PROFIT PRIVATELY OWNED prison industry, which means they already GET the money IN ADVANCE from the STATES, not Uncle Sam in the Federal Government. So it's not like Indiana or California or Oklahoma reached over and picked a pocket in the Federal Government and took it out of the VA budget, but I will tell you WHO DOES do that:

Republicans! And even a handful of Democrats, too.
