Price transparency in health care

Its not free.

It is at the point of delivery. Before I retired my monthly contribution via direct taxation was around £150/month, and as a visitor to the UK you will be fixed free of charge should you fall ill. I speak from experience; I was employed in cervical pathology by the NHS.

Not really true:

f you are a short term visitor, from outside the EU, just in the UK on vacation, you may have access to some of these services too. But rules put in place to prevent health tourism - arriving in the UK for free medical treatment - mean you'll still need travel health insurance and will usually have to pay for most non-emergency medical and dental services.

usually only in case of an emergency.

Can I Use Free UK Medical Services as a Visitor?

I'd be interested to hear from people what they specifically think would be necessary and effective at incorporating more patient-driven cost control into our health care system.

obviously Republican capitalism, if people are spending their own money the will be very careful how much they spend.
Trump just took a baby step in forcing hospitals to publishes all their prices. Capitalism would reduce prices by about 80% and save each American about $7500 per year.
