Make everyone accountable and responsible for their actions - smoking, eating fat food and sucking dollars out of Medicare and Medicaid and cracking down on fake benefits.

This is my question. So you can not walk? Well how about you got arms - so it is time you grow up , stop feeling pity for yourself and contribute to society and rightfully earn your benefits. Go make matches, shoes etc. you still got arms right?

Stop riding in Cadillac chrome rims smoking ciagarillos and collecting benefits and feeling like you are entitled to park in the front of the store above everyone else.

Don't own a Cadillac.

it does not matter, who pays.

what matters is that you can waste 500% of budget on healthcare on people that SUCK the juice out;
they get a heart attack- spend two month in an ICU ,barely surviving\, costing US 500K, they come out to the street and light up another one.

These are immature and irresponsible individuals that we pay for, that you and me and my and your kids have to pay for

thread is about you can only have so much , like everyone else, and you have to earn it by working like every one else , contributing equally and be responsible for your poor choice health related actions. And that if you make poor choices in life then the tax payers and the gov't is off the hook

What country uses this wacky system?

Would you say you can't always get what you want?

makes perfect sense when you got 5 dollars and 10 people to pay for?

yes. I would say that

Works great all over the world

In my mind after having been associated with the Medicare Single Payer Insurance movement for a few years my speculation suggests no new tax should be necessary.

- Moving funds from medicare as we know it, Medicaid, VA healthcare budget, native American health care and a budget for government employees to Single Payer should provide a substantial contribution.

- Cut corporate subsidies 50%. Cut War Budget 50%

- Single Payer eliminates CEO salaries, golden parachutes for CEO's, eliminates donations to political campaigns, eliminates all commercial advertising, eliminates bonus checks and will reduce the cost of pharmaceuticals.

- Single Payer Insurance will also eliminate 8 lobbyists per elected official and all of the money they sling throughout the halls of capitol hill..

- As we speak the government is shelling out more than $2.5 trillion tax dollars to cover health care costs annually for government connected budgets.

- Leaving Medicare for ALL under a government umbrella will allow the $2.5 trillion tax dollars to cover the nation if my memory serves me well. It is simply more efficient use of tax dollars.

- Among the most fiscal responsible attributes is everybody pays in no matter what which reduces the cost to all of us across the board.

- There is no reinventing the wheel. It's all in place waiting to be delivered. There should be no co-pays and no deductibles.

- Nobody will ever be late paying for their insurance and all of us will be helping each other.

- No more bankruptcies due to medical bills and such.

Those funds are already paying for health care, so it's not as though they're being re-allocated. The trick is to finance care for the 200+ million people not already covered by those programs. We've got $1.1 trillion flowing through private insurance today--that's what has to be picked up by Medicare, even after you dump in all existing public expenditures on personal health care.

- Single Payer eliminates CEO salaries, golden parachutes for CEO's, eliminates donations to political campaigns, eliminates all commercial advertising, eliminates bonus checks and will reduce the cost of pharmaceuticals.

Seems hard to believe health care CEOs won't be paid anymore.

- Single Payer Insurance will also eliminate 8 lobbyists per elected official and all of the money they sling throughout the halls of capitol hill..

Why would it do that? With all health care financing ultimately originating in Washington, that makes lobbying even more important. It's not as if Medicare doesn't already generate a lobbying frenzy today. Throw an extra trillion into Uncle Sam's share of the pot and the ante gets upped considerably.

- There is no reinventing the wheel. It's all in place waiting to be delivered. There should be no co-pays and no deductibles.

Add the ~$350 billion currently paid out-of-pocket to the $1.1 trillion in private insurer revenue I said above you needed to come up with. You've now got to come up with about a trillion and a half dollars a year. Even if you assume the entire ~$200B in net cost of insurance disappears and isn't reabsorbed anywhere else, and maybe you assume an equivalent amount of administrative cost disappears from the provider side of the ledger, you've still got to come up with over a trillion dollars per year. Hard to see how you do that without new tax revenue.

The promises here are getting way out of line with what can actually be delivered.

America believes it must always to be at war to win. American economy is built on funding war. IBM supplied counting machines to NAZI army to keep track of burnt prisoners and provided war machines to USSR. It is just like that

US needs to always be at war for economy to survive

I am retired military reserve, 12 years active duty, 10 in the reserves. Any combination of service that gets you 8 years or more of reserve duty plus enough years of active duty that nets a total of 20 years service will give full retirement benefits which includes Tricare for Life, (which also pays for my Part B supplement).
My wife, just for being my wife, gets the same benefits. We also have full Medicare. I can use the VA as well, and do for those ailments related to my Agent Orange exposure. So Medicare and Tricare covers us, and we never have any problems with care providers getting paid.

Wife just had breast cancer, caught early. She had the lump removed plus 1 lymph node that was clear of cancer, then radiation treatment. Cost to us, ZERO.

Surely Congress can come up with a plan that allows us to earn similar benefits for all who are willing to serve in some capacity or other.

Jesus Christ you are an idiot. There are more people looking for jobs than there are jobs. Also, many disabled people can't do any job, or if they can, it's at a great risk to themselves, which puts their employer at risk if something happens to them. Disabled people (in general) are not going to be able to produce at a rate better than others that could do that job. That disabled person with no legs? They can't drive. How are they supposed to get to work reliably? The bus? Those don't even run in many areas. Disabled people also have more maintenance, so they'll spend more time at hospitals than other workers would. That'll drive up the costs of the health employer health insurance, too. Stop being stupid, for the good of us all.

You do understand that with healthcare for all these people will be able to see a doctor early on in their lives and get very cheap treatment for these conditions?

The system we have now is that they get nothing until they start dying and get emergency treatment at an ER for 1000x the cost, and that only patches them up, theyll be back soon.

The real drain on our healthcare is the lack of coverage. We can save so much. Also stop letting drug companies charge us 10x more then other 1st world markets. That makes no sense. We need regulations to stop this.
