At least, once upon a time, he did. From here (April, 2011): Trump Supports National Health Care - excerpt:
Who knew? Turns out The Donald is a big booster of national healthcare.

How do we know? Someone read Mr. Trump's quickie campaign book from 2000. As luck would have it, that someone was David Weigel of Slate. Here's an excerpt of what he found:

"We must have universal healthcare," wrote Trump. "I'm a conservative on most issues but a liberal on this one. We should not hear so many stories of families ruined by healthcare expenses."

The goal of health care reform, wrote Trump, should be a system that looks a lot like Canada. "Doctors might be paid less than they are now, as is the case in Canada, but they would be able to treat more patients because of the reduction in their paperwork," he writes.

The likely response from Republican primary voters: "If you like Canada so much, why don't you move there and run for president."

Will wonders never cease? Anyway, for all his mental meanderings since that eventful date (in 2011), he's never brought up the idea again.

You see, he says what he thinks - at any given moment - people want to hear.

Nonetheless, what he says above regarding Australian and Canadian healthcare is true. Even if it's BigNews to Americans ...

Why is this big news to you? The voters knew his stance before the primaries began.

And contrary to your gist, there are many democrat & conservative voters in America who think healthcare should be geared towards non profit. The battle began with the insurance companies and hospitals. Add in government incompetence, and you have a total cluster ****.

Sentara gets richer every day.

Why is this big news to you?

It's BigNews-to-Me because in 2010 he was talking about Nationalized HealthCare and in 2017 he now proposes simple ameliorations to the existing system - which is diabolically expensive.

Well, it was 2000. People's political beliefs "evolve" over time, right?

Yes, they should.

But do they? I'm no expert in the matter and I suspect they do not except peripherally ...

Trump "thinks" whatever his ghostwriters or the last person he's in the room with tell him to think. I'm sure he could be brought around to single-payer again if the right person had the final meeting of the day with him.

In 2016 he talked about getting everybody healthcare multiple times. Where have you been?

Not surprisingly, you don't understand the man at all. He is a deal maker not an ideologue. If democrats had half a brain, they would approach him with a plan for universal coverage that would get 100% support from democrats. Unfortunately, the left is too deep in their hatred for the man that they fail to realize they could use him to achieve their ends.

I understand he also played baseball years ago. Now he does not play baseball.

What a fraud!

6 promises Trump has made about health care - POLITICO

“We’re going to have insurance for everybody,” Trump said in an interview with The Washington Post. “There was a philosophy in some circles that if you can’t pay for it, you don’t get it. That’s not going to happen with us.”

“I am going to take care of everybody … Everybody’s going to be taken care of much better than they’re taken care of now.”

This was about 6 months ago.

My housemate works at a volunteer clinic to which anyone can come and receive care on a first come first served basis for the primary physical care to dental to vision.

There is no income testing.

THIS is care provided by healthcare professional who are donating their time.

This, by the way, is HEALTHCARE, not health insurance.

Point of the post is that there is healthcare available to those who might need it.

we need to redefine what we think about healthcare.

By making people responsible people will take better care of themselves. that is key.
all insurance should be used for is catastrophic care. if you want to run to the doctor for every sniffle then you pay for it.

so how can we achieve this.

basically a national HSA system that the only thing the government does is issue a credit. 3k for single 5k for families.
companies that give 5k a year or more get additional deductions. that would give a family an annual tax free of 10k at most 8k at minimum.
that also doesn't include what you put in. which can be another 10k a year.

you can use this to buy a catastrophic plan.

no, he doesn't. Trump supports Trump, and that's about it. he'll say whatever he needs to say at any moment even if it contradicts what he said five minutes ago.

What I understand is the guy is NOT presidential timber.

And, yes, the Dems have got to act together. But, people like you forget that Hillary WON THE EFFING ELECTION. It was only by means of an archaic mechanism (called an Electoral College) that Donald Dork made it into the White House.

When I explain the mechanism of the Electoral College here in Europe, eyes roll with disbelief ...

So when Trump said, "We're going to have insurance for everybody" he was talking about volunteer clinics?

I am trying to point out that Trump did support some type of insurance for everyone plan as recently as in the past 6 months.

 yeah. Welcome to the debate in Fall of 2015, when conservatives were pointing this out.

Trump supported the recent Replicant attempt to eviscerate ObamaCare.

Had he thought that an NHS was a "better deal", why did he do that?

The guy's opinion about anything anywhere depends upon the time of day ...

"Who talked to him last" and "what do the cable news shows say" ranks up there in what determines his opinion. He doesn't have a policy, and isn't interested in the education necessary to develop one, but his instincts are big-government.

He'll pay for it, if he thinks he wants reelection. He's already too old for the office with his ingrained ideas.

God bless America! (Cuz the county is gonna need it ...)

Did you miss that last line in the post?
