Yes and any who avoid preventative treatment, whether uninsured or too poor for deductibles, may end up hospitalized, which drives up the cost greatly. I gave only one example with diabetes. There are many chronic conditions that fall in this category, some costing the entire deductible just for one procedure
Well first.. you need to realize that many insurance don't pay for preventative treatments. Medicaid and the VA are among the worst.
Second.. many people whose insurance does pay for preventative treatments.. simply choose not to and choose to ignore their medical problems until they become more of an issue.. or worse an emergency.
