As a candidate, Donald Trump promised that he wouldn’t cut Medicaid. He’d “save Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security without cuts,” he pledged during his announcement speech. “Have to do it.”The House Republican health care bill doesn’t just break that promise — it makes a mockery of it.
According to the Congressional Budget Office estimate released Monday, the American Health Care Act would slash $880 billion in federal funds from Medicaid in the next 10 years. As a result, 14 million fewer people would have Medicaid coverage in 2026, the agency estimates.
Trump’s promise not to cut Medicaid wasn’t a one-off — he used it specifically to argue that he was different from other Republicans. In May 2015 when he was preparing his campaign, he said, “I’m not going to cut Medicare or Medicaid. Every other Republican is going to cut.”

But I thought that was what made Trump so "different" from Republicans?!? He repeatedly said he would not cut medicaid and that everyone would have insurance. More bull**** from good ol President Trump.

Trump is Establishment, there's no doubt about it. He just had traditionally occupied the other side of the Corporate State.

And how is he supposed to pay for walls, and deportation, and increased military without cutting services for Americans?

It's a complicated topic and people hate complicated topics. They prefer ridiculous simplification. I see it in Europe all the time. And here in the forum the other day someone was telling me this one is a one Index question without complexity.

You're right. It's a shame this bill doesn't eliminate Medicaid.

Yep, that is so much different than Obama claiming that PPACA would let you keep your current insurance plan/doctor and would save the typical family $2,500 annually in the process. News flash - many politicians lie, flip-flop and/or evolve their positions.

Actually Trump has stated that everyone would have access to insurance. I have access to groceries, Cadillacs, insurance and medical care clinics but I still have to pay for them. Not having the government pay for (or subsidize) things is not denying access to those things.

I think I know what Trump is doing.

Most Presidents end up with a lie/error they become famous for.

Obama: If you like your plan you can keep it.
GWB: there are WMDs.
Clinton: I did not have sexual relations with that woman.
GHWB: Read my lips, no new taxes.
Reagan: we did not trade arms for hostages.

I think Trump is trying to overload us with so many obvious lies that no one of them will stick out after he leaves office. ;)

There was some debate about whether this plan is RyanCare or TrumpCare.

Trump took ownership today.

Not to worry Trump fans; when this fails the Trump admin will push it back to Ryan
