Thanks ObamaCare!

And it has also saved lives that you and others care nothing about. You got yours so that's good enough right?

It was a lie from its conception. They bribed Democrats to pass it. It never saved anyone any money.

In the end our societies will always be judged on how well we looked after our neighbors.

This is great, I'm a little too long winded but you hit the nail on the head here. I had to turn down an opportunity at work because it would have pushed me over an arbitrary income figure that would have actually given me a net loss for the year (-15K until I could get new insurance - IF I could get new insurance). I live 40 minutes away from the Mayo Clinic, which would be awesome if I were rich or homeless.

60 year old male w/ pre-existing conditions.
Insurance Coverage - Florida Blue Select (1456C, basically the ObamaCare Silver Plan)
Premium- My wife and I pay a very affordable monthly premium... in part, because we have increased flexibility on our income level due to self-employment.
Procedure- Prostate TURP. My large prostate, 99th percentile in size before the successful surgery, required a Urological/Surgical procedure more invasive than gentle laser surgery. I spent two nights in the hospital well taken care of by the hospital staff.
Post Surgery Recovery estimated to take about 6 weeks.
My total Out of Pocket estimated at less than 1K for what I believe would have cost me at least 25K w/o insurance.
Thank you ObamaCare! I remain skeptical about future GOPcare/TrumpCare.

Before your Obamacare care did you have private insurance? And is your obamacare subsidized?

BTW, I just had one done on Medicare for ~ $20k. Cost me ~ $300 or so. Can't remember. I wish I did it ten years ago.

Yep. Anyone who knows people with pre-existing conditions or anyone who was really sick and, as a result, used up their maximum lifetime benefits to fight the illness, back in the days before Obamacare, knows exactly how important Obamacare can be for them. The rest....well, selfish people that never cared about anyone but themselves would describe that crowd quite well, IMO.

Yes I did. You can't say "my life is more important than yours" or vice versa. My position is to fix the ACA or repeal and replace it with a law that will lower premiums for families with average to slightly above average income (I'm assuming that's your). If that's your position, we have no disagreement. If your position is that your life is more important than mine, we've got a problem there, and you implied that you pretty much think that way.

My money > your ability to walk = disgusting, evil, putrid

I like the idea of a 90/10 government/individual split with government picking up 100% over $100k or something like that. You should be able to get gap insurance if you gave assets to protect.

You should really be thanking your fellow Americans who are likely picking up the tab.

I'm happy to pick up that tab.

Have you considered getting a higher income position so that you won't be so financially compromised by this one surgery?

It was a lie from its conception. They bribed Democrats to pass it. It never saved anyone any money.

It saved lives but again you and other cons don't care. the lie is that you cons care about Americans

I had excellent private insurance for more than 20 years through a spouse's employment. We divorced. I opted for expense COBRA... paid high premiums for months and never got a penny in paid coverage. My new wife studied ObamaCare options ... factored in income, subsidies and types of plans. She chose a PPO. We pay a subsidized, affordable monthly premium... have used our coverage repeatedly and really like our plan!

And so once again we see how so-called 'liberal' philosophy as orchestrated in the US actually inhibits ambition.

But it is not the philosophy that is wrong, but its implementation. When corruption is king, it becomes a matter of buying votes with the voter's money. We have that here too...we call it socialism.

What I do not understand is the system there has been busted since I lived there in the Vietnam era, and nobody seems to get it. As long as every ass wipe can have a double wide and 50" screen nobody seems to give a ****, or if they do care, they place their trust in philanderers and idiots who ran for the White House to get more head.

30 some years of journalism taught me that everyone can be corrupt and everyone will be, sooner or later, if no one is watching. It kills me as I've been watching this stupid argument for close to 60 years and nothing changes.

I said seven years ago that Obamacare would set back the United States by at least five decades. Now here we are nearly one of those decades gone, and the "ins" are arguing how to dismantle what was a horribly conceived stop gap measure....and the American people are exactly where they were eight years ago.

When we step outside the bubble thinking we've been subjected to, the concept of universal health care becomes a no brainer. If anything, the postal service should be private, maybe education, but certainly not prisons or health care. In closing, it has been demonstrated again and again that Canada's health system is an "attraction" for US companies. However, the ownership of those insurance companies that don't want to cover you make too much ****ing money for there aver to be real change. Just eight years ago the United States' entire financial system collapsed and the American people once again had to pony up and pay up, millions still without the homes they've worked for....and what's the new king going to do? Take away the rules so they can **** you again.

Whats funny is that you have it exactly backward. It is you who are claiming that it is your life, or in this case, your need, that is greater than my life. It is you who are making demands of me, not the other way around. I ask nothing of you other than you respect my rights.
My money > your ability to walk = disgusting, evil, putrid
The alternative is far worse. Your rights and your life belong to you. They don't kick in only after every hungry mouth is fed.

Just because we don't like Obamacare, doesn't mean we don't care about lives. That's nothing but a canard!

So your money turned into your life? At first you were worried about the mortgage, now your life is being ruined by the ACA?

You come off as a person who is very self centered because I just posted about how I recognized that Obamacare needs to be fixed or replaced to help lower costs for, especially, middle class families. You come back with "you are making demands of me." I'm asking for a way to contribute to society despite requiring 6K in meds per month. That doesn't directly burden you and I'm sorry somebody brainwashed you to think it does.
