This is great, I'm a little too long winded but you hit the nail on the head here. I had to turn down an opportunity at work because it would have pushed me over an arbitrary income figure that would have actually given me a net loss for the year (-15K until I could get new insurance - IF I could get new insurance). I live 40 minutes away from the Mayo Clinic, which would be awesome if I were rich or homeless.
And so once again we see how so-called 'liberal' philosophy as orchestrated in the US actually inhibits ambition.
But it is not the philosophy that is wrong, but its implementation. When corruption is king, it becomes a matter of buying votes with the voter's money. We have that here too...we call it socialism.
What I do not understand is the system there has been busted since I lived there in the Vietnam era, and nobody seems to get it. As long as every ass wipe can have a double wide and 50" screen nobody seems to give a ****, or if they do care, they place their trust in philanderers and idiots who ran for the White House to get more head.
30 some years of journalism taught me that everyone can be corrupt and everyone will be, sooner or later, if no one is watching. It kills me as I've been watching this stupid argument for close to 60 years and nothing changes.
I said seven years ago that Obamacare would set back the United States by at least five decades. Now here we are nearly one of those decades gone, and the "ins" are arguing how to dismantle what was a horribly conceived stop gap measure....and the American people are exactly where they were eight years ago.
When we step outside the bubble thinking we've been subjected to, the concept of universal health care becomes a no brainer. If anything, the postal service should be private, maybe education, but certainly not prisons or health care. In closing, it has been demonstrated again and again that Canada's health system is an "attraction" for US companies. However, the ownership of those insurance companies that don't want to cover you make too much ****ing money for there aver to be real change. Just eight years ago the United States' entire financial system collapsed and the American people once again had to pony up and pay up, millions still without the homes they've worked for....and what's the new king going to do? Take away the rules so they can **** you again.
