Gun Violence Chicago

So what's your problem?

You are painting the map blue or red

Some states you can call now, like California will vote Democrat and Oklahoma will vote Republican

But there are many states, like Texas, that you can't call yet.

It's a population density map...not a political voting map. 50% of the population lives in the (pick any color) areas and it would still mean the same thing.

OK, the Democrat supporting base is more geographically concentrated than the Republican supporting base.

"killing machine"

cannot be taken seriously.

aR 15s are rarely used in crime-the reason why gun banners hate them is that the people who own them tend to be pro gun rights voters
Guns are devices designed to kill. Anyone who doesn't concede that can't be taken seriously.

AR 15's are the favorite of mass shooters. AR's are direct copies of the military M-16, slightly modified for civilian use and designed for easy customization.

There is no excuse for military-type weapons in the hands of civilians in this country. It is obscene that it is accepted, mass produced and marketed as just one more consumer product you can buy at your friendly local gun shop or Cabelas. Or BassPro. Or online.

Totally agree with you

But not only the AR-15 but all semi-automatic rifles, all hand guns too and high capacity shotguns.

Good, then ban handguns too.

I don't know if that is a good idea, calamity. They are useful self protection in some situations. I have a cousin whose job took him all over New England, and into some pretty seedy neighborhoods in major cities. He always carried and a couple of times what could have been tense situations were "resolved" without a word when he moved aside his jacket to let it be seen he was armed.

The bad guys aren't going to follow the law. Some people, in some places, do find them a useful deterrent.

What to do with the bad guys who still possess a gun illegally? Don't know. We seem to be moving away from prison sentences, and the black community wants incarceration stopped other ways. But imo by the time a black thug is carrying a gun, it's too late for social programs. Except for some (who haven't murdered) maybe Job Corps. That'll hurt 'em. SCHOOL. OMG! But it's a good program.

Handguns are the main weapon used in shootings, including mass shootings.

Got any more dumb things to say?

Most common weapons used in mass shootings.

Almost all rifles, including hunting rifles, these days are semi-automatic. With limited magazine size, I don't see a need to do away with them. For shooting birds and boar, for instance, you want to be able to shoot pretty rapidly. Any gun can be misused, but banning all semi autos? I think banning high capacity magazines would be as effective. But I'm no expert.

That's true...but a lot of republicans live in cities and suburbs, too. It's basically a population density map, not a political lean map...so make of it what you will.

Hunters can still buy bolt action rifles. If people really want to hunt, bolt action rifles are perfectly adequate.

I prefer using political leaning maps, and right now the latest ones bring a cold shiver down the Clown's spine.

I don't recall a single high profile mass shooting in this country using handguns in the past ten years. Please explain.

The Orlando mass shooting ?

Orlando nightclub shooting - Wikipedia

"Federal officials said a SIG Sauer MCX semi-automatic rifle and a 9mm Glock 17 semi-automatic pistol were recovered from Mateen's body, along with additional rounds. Mateen had legally purchased the two guns used in the shooting from a shop in Port St. Lucie: the SIG Sauer MCX rifle on June 4 and the Glock 17 pistol on June 5.
He and law enforcement were reported to have fired a total of over 200 rounds...

Your statement about the AR15 being "the favorite of mass shooters" is incorrect.

Pistols far outstrip the AR15.

I know a few folks who still use their bolt action rifle when they hunt.

This state only allows 5 bullets in a semi-automatic rifle when hunting, just fyi.

Goalposts, Moving, Unit of issue 1 each.

I'm still waiting to hear what a "mass shooting" is, then. Do you know?

Yes, I know the shooter sometimes also had a handgun, but in all the cases I can think of they used a rifle as well, usually a semiautomatic military-style weapon.

I'm NOT trying to be sneaky. When I think "mass shooting," I think Parkland, Walmart parking lot, San Bernadino.

I think most of us think of those same type of instances when we talk "mass shooting," and I hope you are not trying to waste time parsing words.

He'll accuse you of ":rabbit holing" and "intentional dishonesty" next (they're two of his favorites).
