Having huge majorities and the presidency always seems the party with total control forgets about America as a whole, all of America and just goes with their base's agenda whether or not America as a whole wants it.

The trick is to give America what she wants and stay away from what she doesn't. It's not the party out of power has all of a sudden come up with things America as a whole likes and wants, it's that the party in total control over reaches and makes America as a whole angry at them. Then comes payback. History has a habit of repeating itself and I have no doubt the GOP will be just fine after Trump. How long the Republicans remain out of power all depends on what and how the Democrats use or utilize their new found power.

But.. that might not be the case so much now. One side thinks they have mandate.. and goes nuts to the base.. and voters reign them in.. and then the pendulum swings the other way.

I don;t predict a democrat win. I think Trump wins or its darn close. I think the democrat party will try its hardest to lose an election that it should win by a landslide. . I think the predictor of the democrats winning or losing comes down to Bidens VP pick.

Pick a black female from a state he would win anyway.. like a Kamela Harris? Trump wins.

Pick a female from a state that is in contention and a female who is solidly moderate? Then it gets harder for Trump..

But to answer your question... he is likely to replace a moderate or liberal judge..with another liberal or moderate judge.

Most likely.. if Biden wins. Ginsberg retires. And early to give biden time to confirm a justice. The "conservatives".. and I use that loosely as I don;t think that their are any real conservatives on the court... aren't going to be retiring in the next four years.

Well that's because nobody can explain it. The only people promoting the concept of white privilege say that you must accept it on faith alone and behave a certain way to mitigate that.

No thanks I already have a religion and it's better than that.

If we're going to talk about a privilege granted specifically to white people, it seems the only privilege that exists is large leaf that white people have given up tribalism.

No.. you actually can explain it. You don;t have to have faith in it. Here is what what white privilege is. When you go to a bank and you are white.. you are statistically more likely to get a favorable loan for your mortgage.. than if you are a minority... even though your finances are the same as that minority.

IF you apply for a job.. and you have a white sounding name.. you are more likely to get a call back to that job.. than a person with a black sounding name. Even though your resumes are exactly the same

If you get stopped by the police.. if you are white you are less likely to get searched.. than a black fellow.. even though when black fellows are searched.. the police are less likely to find contraband.. than when they search white people.

If you get arrested by the police.. if you are white.. you are less likely to be convicted.. are more likely to get a lesser sentence and are more likely to get clemency... than a minority with the exact same circumstances of priors, education and economics.

If you are a white child and are getting disciplined for something at school.. you are more likely to get a less punishment than black person that commits the exact same infraction. In fact the black child committing the exact same infraction is more likely to be expelled than a white child with the same infraction.

These are all well documented scientific studies.

And its just the tip of the ice berg.

I realize it's still early. But I don't see how Trump can overcome his own obnoxious personality. There's no Hillary around to save him. Even Trump has admitted his personality is a huge problem for him.

Trump is a very easy man to get to dislike with all his childish antics, temper tantrum throwing and name calling, not to mention his schoolyard bully persona.

Well..the new politics are personality over policy. That was the big win for Trump. And so far.. the democrats have done the right thing.. which is to NOT do any policy.. to make this a referendum on personality.

And I think thats smart (albeit.. I think it came from the never trumpers)... because Trump HAS NO POLICY. So.. he is free to simply criticize whatever policy that his opponent support and basically put his opponent on the defensive.

Here is how it would play out:
On healthcare: Trump:
' I will give you the best healthcare you will love it
'

Biden:
'I will work to get expanded medicaid in the states. and will work to drive premiums down by having more competition in the federal and state exchanges.
'

Trump: "Biden wants you to all have government healthcare with abortion on demand and using babies in science experiments."

And the next three weeks is the news having Biden defend his policy and people hearing over and over him on the defensive.. until they think..
well maybe he does want government healthcare...why is he so defensive about his plan?

And Trump may have someone for people to hate. Thats why Biden;s pick is critical. If he picks a Harris, or Warren.. he may be through. Even if he simply picks a black female.. he may be through.

And that;s because Biden has a more likeable personality.. but.. because of that.. any VP is going to seen as having more influence on him. And if the pick is someone seen as a progressive and ultra left of Biden? ITs going to be frightening to the middle of the country and swing states.. and its going to give someone for Trump to make these folks fear.

Cuz at the end of the day.. thats what its going to be about.. who do you fear less.
