Sister pulls out gun and saves her brother from would-be robbers

In case you missed it, slavery was abolished last millennium. That should have included wage-slavery, but it was too much social Horror for the right wing. Show me where any legislature has Any authority to deny or disparage our privileges and immunities through unequal protection of the laws. Employment is at the will of either party.

I don't know what your smoking, but can I have some?

"Two people are dead after a shooting occurred Saturday afternoon in Newark, an Essex County Prosecutor’s Office spokeswoman confirmed.
The identities of the victims who were shot on the 100 block of Brookdale Avenue in the city’s Vailsburg section were not immediately released.
A resident who has been living on the block for about a year said he heard about four gunshots around 1:45 p.m. He also said he saw a woman walking away from the scene while crying...

OK so would you care to fill us in on any particulars? Or is it a secret?

He’s just celebrating the deaths of innocent people because he believes it’s advantageous to his cause. It’s pretty ghoulish, it a necessary thing for gun banners.

Just supporting to OP, that the availability of guns in the USA leads to unnecessary bloodshed and carnage - no seen in any other civilized country.

Notice my use of the word "civilized" above.

Oh I definitely noticed. Is it your position that all of the 90+ countries with higher intentional homicide rates than the US are uncivilized? That's the only way for your claim to be true.

Since you are a progressive, let me remind you that a country doesn't have to be rich and predominately white in order to be civilized.

Yes, at the very least we can't regard them as a developed, democratic country

History would disagree with you.

*caveat: The term "civilization" is often applied to historical societies in the past, for example we might refer to the Aztec "civilization". That doesn't mean that today we regard a culture that engaged in human sacrifice, as "civilized".

Argentina and Greenland both have a higher intentional homicide rate than the US. What makes them uncivilized?

Greenland huh, Thule must resemble Mos Eisley as a rough port for casual visitors.

Neither it nor Argentina would be classed as developed countries.

You didn't say developed, you said civilized.

I knew you would change the qualification in order to weed out every country that is predominately black or brown.

Then for "civilized" read "developed"
(and I think I've made it clear over the last couple of years that I don't excuse US levels of gun violence because its lower than that of Brazil or El Salvador etc)

There are plenty of countries in the world that are more violent and/or less safe than the USA, though why would you want your country to be compared with them ?
I wouldn't.

If you wish to support the OP as you put it, why not have a few facts too support things? I noticed the OP loaded with them.

Of course the US has more firearms but also less violent.

Well why not pick one of those countries and go live there for awhile. Then get back to us on the subject of guns.

"BOSTON — Boston police said a 15-year-old was killed and two others suffered gunshot wounds Thursday night in a shooting on a residential street in Boston.
The shooting happened around 10 p.m. Thursday in the area of 39 Mount Pleasant Ave., off Dudley Street, near Boston's Nubian Square.
"It's been a busy and violent night," Boston Police Commissioner William Gross said.
Gross said when police arrived, they found the teenager suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The police commissioner said two additional victims who were believed to be at the scene drove themselves to area hospitals.

Rich, what are your thoughts on the story posted by the OP? What do you think about the sister being able to save her brother and perhaps herself from maybe being executed by two gun-wielding home invaders? Do you think if she had just called 911 instead that the police could have arrived to save them??

"Two people are dead and eight people have been injured after a shooting at a South Carolina nightclub early Sunday morning.
The incident took place at Lavish Lounge in Greenville, South Carolina, just before 2 a.m. on Sunday morning when Greenville County sheriff’s deputies saw a large commotion outside the establishment and called for backup due to “active gunfire from inside the building, according to Greenville County Sheriff’s spokesperson Lt. Jimmy Bolt...

Enough facts in that news report ?

Less violent than where ?

Brazil or El Salvador ?

Because I live in the U S of A !!!!

Why don't you live in one of the less violent countries in the USA where you would NT need a gun ?

I think the two "gun wielding home invaders" would be a lot less dangerous without guns

(and they might not have invaded the home at all had they not been wielding guns)

(Like the fact that gun crime is such a rarity in the UK)
